As a Speech & Language Therapist, your role will include delivering a mixture of direct and indirect therapy.
You will need to be confident working with all age groups.
Linking in with pre-schools, schools, adult training centres and workplaces will be essential.
As part of our team of talented and passionate therapists, you will provide a wide range of support including: Attention and Listening Skills Introducing and using AAC systems including manual sign (Lamh), paper based and high tech approaches Speech sound approaches- articulation, phonological, motor speech, prosody and rate Language approaches - vocabulary, grammar, sentence building, narrative, questions, social language and literacy Fluency work / Stuttering Roles and Responsibilities Be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of intervention programmes for children and adults with Down syndrome and other co-occurring conditions such as Autism.
Collaborate with service users, families, carers and other professionals (clinicians and school staff) in goal setting and intervention planning in an efficient and timely manner whilst ensuring a holistic approach.
Generate and manage documentation in respect of assessments, diagnoses, intervention plans, and clinical notes.
Deliver a range of therapeutic models appropriate to the client population and in a person and family centred manner.
Use of Lamh and other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Delivering training workshops to parents and teachers.
Providing therapies via telehealth if needed.
Supporting both mainstream and special schools.
Planning and organising (including the scheduling of) individual and group therapy.
Being innovative in the use of resources to maintain and enhance service delivery standards.
Maintaining standards of service delivery in line with policy, CORU guidelines and relevant legislation.
Travel will be required at times to provide some services Ad-hoc duties as requested by Senior SLT/Branch Coordinator.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential: Recognized qualification in Speech and Language Therapy Current CORU registration Current IASLT membership Desirable Hanen It Takes Two to Talk and More than Words DIR Floortime Lamh Hours of work & location: This is a Full-Time Fixed term 12 month Specific Purpose contract, working 37.5 hours per week between Monday to Friday.
