Head of Compliance NTIFASIL
Role/ Department
Northern Trust has an established Ireland Compliance team, with partners based in our Limerick and Dublin offices. The Ireland team is part of the International Compliance team of the Northern Trust Group and works closely with regional and global compliance partners. The continued growth and scale of our business in Ireland has created the need for a dedicated Head of Compliance (PCF-12) for our fund administration entity.
The successful candidate will manage one direct report and work alongside the PCF-12 for the depositary entity as well as the Ireland compliance shared service team. This role reports to the International Chief Compliance Officer in the UK, the Board of Directors and is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Ireland (“CBI”).
Key Responsibilities
1. Execute the day-to-day PCF-12 (Head of Compliance) responsibilities for the regulated fund administration business, Northern Trust International Fund Administration Services (Ireland) Limited (“NTIFASIL”):
2. Manage the relationship with the CBI and serve as the primary point of contact for exams and all other regulator engagement.
3. Maintain and embed a comprehensive compliance framework for NTIFASIL, leveraging (where practical) the Northern Trust Group compliance framework. This includes the areas of Compliance Risk Assessment, Monitoring and Testing, Regulatory Change, Compliance Policies and Management Reporting.
4. Deliver the annual Compliance Programme of work for the legal entity.
5. Have a full understanding of the NTIFASIL strategy, business operations, regulatory landscape and industry trends. Act as subject matter expert on all regulations impacting the legal entity.
6. Work closely with the NTIFASIL Board of Directors and Senior Management team, serving as compliance representative at relevant governance forums (Board, Risk Committee, etc.).
7. Act as trusted advisor, providing constructive engagement and challenge on core activities and advising on group-wide compliance initiatives impacting the legal entity.
Skills and Experience
8. Extensive compliance, regulatory or risk experience, with the ideal candidate having worked within an international financial services firm and having a strong knowledge of how fund service providers operate.
9. Experience in managing the relationship with the Central Bank of Ireland or other regulator.
10. Successful track record in delivering a compliance program for a regulated entity.
11. Strong emotional intelligence, collaboration skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders with impact.
12. Able to think strategically, navigate and communicate effectively across a complex organisation.
13. Highly motivated and resilient.
14. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with strong attention to detail.
15. Confident in making decisions and addressing conflict.
16. Able to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
17. Commitment to developing team members and continuously looking to improving how we work.
