Job Title: Senior HR Generalist - Maternity Leave Cover
Overview:
STERS Canada Corporation is seeking a Temporary Senior HR Generalist to cover maternity leave. The ideal candidate will provide dedicated HR consultation, generalist, and recruiting support to our internal customers.
Main Responsibilities:
* Recruiting:
o Sources, screens and recruits qualified candidates for all level positions, up to and including Director level positions.
o Reviews resumes, conducts phone screens, and evaluates applications for job fit using work history, education and training, salary desired, and other skills and abilities to determine qualification for employment.
o Creates and implements process improvements, selection tools and best in class practices to improve the recruitment process.
o Works closely with Hiring Managers and provides input and guidance as they make hiring decisions.
o Facilitates the job requisition process to improve efficiency in time to fill.
* Employee Relations/Performance Management:
o Provides managers with consultation and support with Performance Management activities.
o Guides managers as they handle performance issues.
o Responsible for resolving employee relations issues, working with managers and Sr. HR Manager.
o Applies and interprets policies and procedures to basic and complex employment issues.
o Provides guidance to managers regarding disciplinary actions, terminations, and handling serious policy violations.
* Provide support and/or leadership on HR Project teams / Reporting:
o Provide support to the corporate HR team.
o Conduct HR related research and assist with HR strategic plan preparation.
o Serve as project lead or participant, and champion employee related initiatives as assigned.
* Learning and Development:
o Conduct internal training for New Hire Orientation, interviewing skills, performance management and coaching, development planning, and other HR related topics as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5-7 years recruitment experience in a professional, fast paced environment. Experience must include non-exempt, college, and exempt/professional level recruitment.
- 5-7 years of employee relations experience. Knowledge of employment law, affirmative action plans, performance management practices and disciplinary action processes.
- 3 years leading training initiatives as well as HR Projects.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook. Applicant tracking and HRIS systems experience preferred.
- A high attention to detail is required for this role.
- The Ideal candidate must be CIPD qualified or studying for this qualification.
