This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the start-up of Kilkenny Cheese Limited. Kilkenny Cheese is a joint venture between Tirlán and Dutch family business Royal A-ware, a 130-year-old company with strong positions in EU and global markets. The facility is to be located at a greenfield site adjacent to Tirlán’s specialised nutrition facility at Belview, Co Kilkenny.
Role Summary
Based in Belview in South Kilkenny, this role reports to the Supply Chain Manager and plans, organises and coordinates logistics activities in alignment with production schedules. This position is tasked with accurately scheduling all transport activities without incurring waste or impeding objectives. This role necessitates continually balancing and rebalancing transport resources and managing the movement of materials (Crates/Pallets/Reefers/Air Bags etc.) to guarantee that our customer is receiving the finished product in the required state, on time and in full.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate with KC designated Freight forwarder in the movement of finished product from KC Facility to the final destination.
2. Manage the creation of paperwork for all despatches both inside and outside the EU, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements (EUR1 Forms, Health Certs, CMR documents etc.).
3. Develop a transport plan for weekly/monthly/quarterly based on production forecasts with the Supply Chain Team.
4. Communicate weekly with KC designated Freight Forwarder to confirm transport plans.
5. Work with the Warehousing team to ensure all sales orders are dispatched as planned and on time.
6. Carry out all administrative tasks on M3 when dispatching reefers (creation of CMRs, aligning production dates on paperwork, uploading final dispatch details from M3 to Samskip Portal).
7. Monitor freight forwarders' delivery plans to ensure all deliveries are timely.
8. Monitor the temperature of reefers during transport based on information from our Freight forwarders and KC data Loggers.
9. Communicate weekly with Royal A-ware team regarding the return of empty crates, ensuring they are unloaded and returned within the agreed timeframe.
10. Manage daily administrative tasks on the ERP system (M3), ensuring timely transaction completion.
11. Maintain administration files, keeping them updated with key metrics around logistics forecasts, plans, and actuals.
12. Coordinate with Buyers/Planners and warehousing teams when planning the receipt of materials into the KC warehouse.
13. Communicate daily and weekly with logistics companies regarding transport to and from Kilkenny Cheese.
14. Attend Tiered meetings, gather relevant information, and report back to the Supply Chain team on necessary actions.
15. Attend weekly and monthly Supply Chain meetings.
16. Communicate daily with the transport company regarding shunting Reefers to and from KC Dock to Waterford port.
17. Monitor and maintain service level KPIs for the Supply Chain function, presenting findings at daily and weekly SC meetings.
18. Manage the order process within Export, including entering orders, coordinating with planning, and arranging shipments.
19. Request and draft all export documents and veterinary inspections.
20. Liaise with customers, agencies, and colleagues via email and telephone.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
1. Capable of working with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate consensus forecasts.
2. Excellent computer skills and a good command of Excel.
3. Exceptional analytical skills; good attention to detail and well organized.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Knowledge of the Dairy or similar food processing industry.
6. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
7. Previous experience in a logistics role is desirable.
8. Additional language skills are desirable.
