SCOR Ireland dac (SI), based in Dublin, is part of the SCOR Group. The company writes both Life and Health and P&C business reinsurance business. As CRO SI, you will lead the SI Risk Management Function in establishing effective risk management systems and frameworks for identification, reporting, and escalation of risk matters to the SI Board, senior executives, and Central Bank of Ireland as required. This role will have a dotted reporting line to the SI CEO, and is classified as PCF 14.
As the Global Mortality/Longevity Risk Pool Lead, you will drive the thinking, planning, coordination, and delivery of risk matters relating to SCOR’s global Mortality/Longevity business.
CRO SI
* The CRO SI leads the SI Risk Management function and is responsible for providing independent risk oversight of all SI’s risk-taking activities, for embedding a strong risk management culture across the organisation, and for providing advice, risk insights, and risk opinions to the company (the Board, CEO SI, and SI Senior Leadership Team) to support strong and effective risk management across SI.
* The CRO SI is responsible for timely and effective reporting to/interactions with the CBI, ensuring transparent risk reporting and due consideration of local regulatory requirements. You will work closely with the CRO SGRI to ensure effective, efficient, and coordinated interactions are maintained across both entities.
* Supporting SI Projects from a risk management perspective.
* Supporting the activities of SCOR’s Group Risk Management function.
Global Mortality/Longevity Risk Pool Lead
* Lead global thinking, planning, coordination, and delivery of key activities relating to the Mortality/Longevity Risk Pool – working closely with other CRO functions and BU L&H to achieve this.
* Lead implementation of the Risk mandate, and be the key interface for BU L&H for global matters, relating to the Mortality/Longevity Risk Pool. Specific items will include: key Group Committee risk papers and analyses relating to the Mortality/Longevity Risk Pool; matters relating to the implementation of the Risk Appetite Framework (e.g. reviewing/defining appropriate Risk Limits); provide timely/effective input in support of other initiatives (e.g. strategic projects, adhoc requests).
* Leverage insights gained to benefit SI risk activities for mortality & longevity business (and vice versa).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
CRO SI Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain the risk management system, comprising risk appetite, policies, processes, and reporting procedures.
* Ensure risk management system allows identifying, measuring, monitoring, managing and reporting individual, aggregate and interdependencies between risks on a continuous basis.
* Continuously develop and maintain the risk management system covering the following areas: strategic risks; underwriting and reserving (both life and non-life); asset/liability management; investment, in particular derivatives and similar commitments; liquidity and concentration risk management; operational risk management; emerging risks; reinsurance and other risk mitigation techniques.
* Facilitate Management Risk Committees organisation (Underwriting, Operational and Investment risk committees). Facilitate the Board Risk Committee and ensure clear communication with Chair of Board Risk Committee.
* Design and production of own risk and solvency assessment (ORSA).
* Design and production of recovery plan.
* Design and production of risk management reports for Board and Board Risk Committee.
* Ensure the Internal Model accurately reflects the risks inherent in the Company’s business and can be used for strategic decision making as well as capital determination.
* Ensure robust Internal Model independent validation is in place.
* Interact and build relationships throughout the SCOR Group and Business Unit (BU), particularly in relation to Risk Management. Ensure effective leverage of SCOR's risk management systems. Escalate main Company’s risks to SCOR Risk Management.
* Support the activities of SCOR’s Group Risk Management function.
Required Experience & Competencies
* Qualified Actuary or equivalent.
* Significant post-qualification and Risk Management experience.
* Strong leadership skills, and senior management experience.
* Proven ability to maintain independence from the business, and be an effective and constructive challenger at all levels.
* Strong blend of risk, technical, analytical, and communication skills.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision making ability.
* Excellent verbal/written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain complex issues clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders.
* Effective and credible collaborator with the business across all functions.
Required Education
* Qualified Actuary or equivalent.
