About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Field Scientist with a background in the marine sector to join our team at AQUAFACT, part of the APEM Group.
The successful candidate will have a varied role where they can apply and develop their fieldwork and surveying skills across a variety of environments, including aquaculture farms, coastal/transitional waters, and ports & harbours.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage activities and projects for the AQUAFACT field team, supporting the Principal Field Scientist in planning and coordinating field activities for current and future projects.
* Ensure all administrative and project management activities are completed.
* Plan field activities, including preparing risk assessments and method statements, as well as commercial management of projects.
* Participate in field-based activities and monitoring.
* Develop strong working relationships with clients and other key stakeholders, becoming a point of contact for the wider team to provide scientific advice and guidance on fieldwork activities.
Requirements
* Relevant third-level Degree (Level 8 or higher) and at least 3 years professional experience in environmental monitoring and assessment.
* Experience of survey planning and managing logistics.
* Experience of Health and Safety management systems.
* Experience in managing field teams and project management.
* Strong, creative problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills.
* Experience in carrying out a variety of survey types, including offshore experience (including calibration, deployment, and maintenance of various pieces of equipment).
* Experience in the use of Deltek or other project management software.
* Driving Licence.
