This role reports to the Director of Sector Development and is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that is a key driver in Fáilte Ireland's strategic initiatives, helping to build a resilient and forward-looking sector capable of meeting evolving industry challenges and leveraging opportunities for growth.
The ideal candidate will think strategically and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders and other government agencies.
The focus of the Head of Division will be on leading and supporting the well-established Enterprise Development and Inclusion team to enhance user-centric and industry-focused development, delivery, and communication of our programmes.
A key focus will also be on collaborating with other agencies to deliver impact for the sector.
The Enterprise Development team supports capability building across the tourism sector, which goes beyond traditional employee training to fundamentally changing work processes.
Effective capability building initiatives will enable tourism businesses to develop mindsets and behaviors for transformational gains.
The inclusion team aims to support tourism businesses in making their offerings accessible to all by raising awareness of the business opportunity and building capability within teams to enhance visitor experiences.
Job Purpose This role sits within the Sector Development Directorate and plays a central role in supporting the tourism sector.
It requires a professional with an understanding of developing and delivering strategic capability supports to ensure businesses remain profitable, competitive, and resilient.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, excellent influencing and communication skills, and the ability to measure and communicate impact.
The successful candidate will also exhibit excellent relationship management skills and a demonstrable ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
Project management experience and the ability to influence internal stakeholders and external suppliers are essential.
This role focuses on developing and delivering strategic capability building initiatives to support tourism businesses in becoming viable and sustainable.
Collaboration with agencies such as Skillnet, LEO, SEAI, and government departments is central to this role, ensuring a coordinated approach to capability building in the tourism sector while avoiding duplication and wasted resources.
Engaging with industry bodies to understand capability needs and develop partnerships to maximize the rollout and impact of developed supports is also crucial.
Job Description – Key Responsibilities Capability Building Supports Identify and develop strategic capability supports to meet the evolving needs of the tourism sector.Collaborate with agencies, stakeholders, and suppliers to address key strategic capability development needs.Oversee the development of content for learniFI, leveraging it as a key resource for tourism employees.Utilize international and national benchmarking and research to enhance learning and development practices.Manage external service providers for the development of necessary supports.Innovate methods of delivering capability building supports.Evaluate all supports delivered and measure their impact on industry performance.Stakeholder Management Develop proactive relationships with agencies and divisions in the skills and capability development market.Understand business needs by developing external relationships with key industry stakeholders.Maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve organisational objectives.Resource Management Inspire and support team members to meet objectives.Develop accurate manpower plans for project resourcing.Monitor resource deployment for optimal outcomes.Coach, mentor, evaluate, and conduct performance reviews of team members.Manage cross-functional resources for project delivery.Governance & Reporting Comply with organisational policy and promote good governance.Review the status of plans and address issues timely.Monitor budgets and procurement processes.Control team spending within agreed budgets.Be an active member of the Leadership Team.Carry out all other duties as required and participate as a full member of the Sector Development Directorate Leadership Team.
This role requires travel to national and regional locations on an annual basis.
Person Specification Essential Criteria The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience in a related management role, including strategy formulation and senior stakeholder management.
