Baker Finn has been assigned to recruit a Financial Controller for a profitable and fast-moving entrepreneurial business in Cork. The business has grown substantially year on year and will continue to do so in line with their strategic plan.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the role requires an ambitious and proactive individual who will support the development of the finance function, partnering directly with a commercial counterpart to create a best–in–class finance function. You will have the ability to build robust and productive relationships, providing support and challenge across all functions and liaising with senior management.
The main purpose of the Financial Controller role is to lead the Finance function, having overall responsibility for maintaining high-quality financial reporting and enabling the business to grow and be financially sustainable. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping the business deliver the next step in its 5-year plan.
This role will suit a confident person who is comfortable dealing with senior leadership team stakeholders, including managing difficult conversations and requests for information and reporting to support business case development.
The successful person will be driven and determined in completion of their day–to–day responsibilities, as well as looking to find ways that can improve the processes and how the company does things. The role will be fundamentally important to the core operation of the business and ultimately providing a big impact on the company's success and achievement of targets.
Principal Responsibilities:
* Be responsible for the finances of the business, monitoring financial performance and producing relevant reports, cash flow forecasting, and month-end management account packs.
* Produce and deliver relevant financial reports to support business case development.
* Integrated cash flow/P&L/BS.
* Key contact for external accountants in the preparation of annual statutory accounts and meeting audit requirements.
* Support the Finance Director in presenting reports to external parties and the Board.
* Maintain the intra-group transfer pricing mechanism along with inter-group recharging for shared services.
* Strengthening the month-end income/cost recognition process.
* Work with the Tech function to strengthen/automate processes & data integrity.
* Work with business stakeholders to strengthen flash P&L projections and quarterly overhead forecasting.
* Review, create, and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen financial control.
* General ad–hoc duties to assist and cover the Director of Finance and Commercial and the wider business.
The successful candidate will be an ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified professional having gained experience in a similar role. You will have a positive, enthusiastic, and hands–on approach backed with drive and ambition. You will need to be confident working with a diverse range of people and cultures and have excellent communication skills.
