Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Civil Engineering.
The successful candidate will carry out research on machine learning methods that can be used to automate a predictive estimation tool for pricing (tendering) Modern Methods of Construction (offsite panelised light gauge steel) building projects. The project aims to develop an innovative software solution to automate the estimation of tender pricing for light gauge steel panelised buildings by leveraging historical data from the project industry partner's, Evolusion Innovation, significant database of successful MMC projects (>1,000). The candidate will develop a data mining approach for the database in terms of building types, number of stories, etc., to provide precise estimates of critical materials and costs. The candidate will work with engineers and software developers from the industry partner, Evolusion Innovation. This project is funded by Enterprise Ireland and Evolusion Innovation through Construct Innovate (constructinnovate.ie).
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a motivated team investigating the creation of new machine learning methods to accurately predict tendering pricing for offsite panelised building construction.
