Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM 2)

About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective, compassionate, and efficient delivery of care within the designated unit on a 24-hour basis. This role encompasses clinical leadership, human resource management, and financial oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership: Lead and guide the unit's staff while aligning with the goals of the department, the service, and Hospital.
* Patient Care: Monitor and evaluate patient care processes and outcomes to ensure the highest standards of care.
* Staffing: Recruit and retain skilled, compassionate nursing staff, set performance standards, and promote fair labour practices.
* Work Environment: Foster a safe, supportive environment with well-maintained equipment and efficient physical space.
* Quality Improvement: Actively engage in continuous quality improvement and risk management programs in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* Financial Oversight: Manage the unit's budget, control expenditures, and adjust staffing patterns to optimise productivity.
* Compliance: Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure departmental compliance with hospital policies.
Clinical Responsibilities:
The post holder is required to adhere to The Professional Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Framework (NMBI, 2015) and contribute to:
* Identifying and addressing quality, policy, and guideline issues.
* Evaluating current practices against established best practices.
* Establishing and upholding standards through structure, process, and outcome evaluations.
* Participating in hospital, regional, and national audits.
* Supporting the Hospital-Wide Accreditation Cycle.
* Engaging in health promotion initiatives.
Interpersonal and Team Relationships:
* Maintain effective working relationships with internal departments, physicians, patients, families, and external agencies.
* Communicate with the Nurse Supervisor or Director of Nursing as necessary.
* Demonstrate effective task delegation skills.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maximise patient outcomes.
* Participate in unit-based and interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
* Support and assist colleagues as needed.
Professional and Personal Development:
* Attend mandatory education sessions punctually.
* Maintain a professional portfolio and uphold the hospital's professional standards.
* Identify and propose relevant nursing research topics.
* Educate patients and families whenever possible.
* Participate in professional development opportunities and training days.
* Act as a mentor or supervisor for students and new staff members.
* Engage in performance reviews with the Assistant Director of Nursing.
Person Specification:
* Valid NMBI Registered General Nurse license.
* Postgraduate qualification in management (preferred).
* Minimum of five years of clinical experience.
* At least two years of progressive management experience.
* Proficiency in written and spoken English.
* Demonstrated abilities in teaching, leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional development.
* Proven capacity for multitasking.
