The Role:
You will underwrite our range of High Net Worth products, Home & Contents, Overseas Home and Fine Art business within a highly successful and energized team. This role is key in driving profitable growth within the new business underwriting team, achieving broker account targets whilst also meeting agreed service standards and key performance objectives. You will have a strong focus on building rapport and relationships with and delivering a superb service to our broker partners and will actively identify opportunities to cross-sell using market leading internet technology.
What you’ll be doing:
Significant contribution to profitable underwriting in order to achieve the overall new business GWP target.
Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company’s strategy and guidelines.
To effectively negotiate with both internal and external parties including identified points of contact with a brokerage.
Building relationships with key brokers and very strong local market presence.
Account managing your panel of brokers, working with the broker to develop and execute annual business plans using a deep understanding of the broker’s business to achieve various growth targets.
Maintain profitability of the account by making sound individual underwriting decisions.
Ensure underwriting file integrity by documenting file in line with U/W management requirement.
Support both the Head of Sales and Underwriting Manager on understanding the Irish insurance landscape.
Key Competencies:
1. minimum of CIP qualified
2. Good knowledge of Private Client / High Net Worth underwriting process and product landscape is a plus.
3. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a related position.
*Full clean driving license
4. Ideally, market presence and relationships with Ireland’s main Insurance brokers.
5. Good understanding of how the Irish market and the main players and segments within it operate.
6. Good knowledge of the competitor landscape and other offerings.
7. Understanding of the Hiscox differentiators in the Irish High Net Worth market.
8. Ability to analyse and assess models and develop plans and actions arising from the data.
9. Proficient in understanding and interpreting management information and translating this into actions.

10. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus. Able to positively affect other people and to win business.
11. Ability to communicate our products and service differentiators clearly. Comfortable presenting to large crowds.
12. Able to form strong relationships with senior brokers.
13. A proven track record in business development and underwriting in the local insurance market is essential.
14. Strong market and competitor knowledge.
15. Demonstrable drive and energy to move yourself and the business forward.
16. Ability to work quickly and accurately and to consistently show the Hiscox ‘going the extra mile’ dedication and commitment in a fast growing and demanding area of the business.
17. Clear ability to think on your feet and make intelligent, innovative business decisions.
18. Able to make effective decisions when dealing with complex technical issues and can justify underwriting decisions.
19. Have an eye for detail and be highly focused on producing high quality work that is “right first time”.
