A great opportunity to work with a cross-functional engineering team and collaborating with project partners to develop electrical aspects of superconductor cable system and qualification programme
Design and development activities will span from concept to prototyping, to qualification & testing of functional designs, through to full scale commercial product and system design.
Your Team:
You will be working in our Product Development Team reporting directly to the Head of Product Development alongside a diverse and innovative technical team.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Undertake research and development for components of the superconducting cable system design for integration with HVDC power grids.
2. Design, build management and commissioning of high current & HV superconducting cable test systems, in accordance with standards and best working practices;
3. Undertake electrical equipment design, instrumentation and DAQ system design.
4. Test and examine product & sub-system prototypes;
5. Interact with the cross-functional design team, in the design of electro-mechanical systems;
6. Lead and participate in design reviews, risk assessment, lessons learnt and resolution workshops, with subsequent implementation and reporting;
7. Work with academic research partners, suppliers & contractors on technology and testing infrastructure development;
8. Analyse, develop and present technology proposals and technical reports;
9. Ensure that all Health and Safety procedures are followed in accordance with company policies;
About You
Essential:
10. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (level 8 or higher) with a minimum of four years' industry experience;
11. Experience with cable design & qualification in accordance with regional/international standards.
12. Experience/knowledge of power generation and transmission technologies.
13. Experience in the design and implementation of instrumentation, test apparatus and DAQ systems.
14. Experience in technical assessment of equipment suppliers and supervision of equipment design, development, testing and commissioning.
15. Experience developing electrical project documentation - plans, product & system specifications, high-level drawings, electrical schematics, method statements, commissioning statements, and test reports.
16. Active team member with ability to work as part of a multi-discipline team or independently as required.
17. Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
Desirable:
18. Experience of completing works in a HV facility, e.g. laboratory testing, site-surveys, construction supervision etc.
19. Experience with design and qualification of HVDC systems.
Your Qualifications:
Essential:
20. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (level 8 or higher).
Desirable:
21. Chartered or progressing towards chartership.
