Volunteer Role: Independent Non Executive DirectorThe Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body of football, at all levels, throughout the Republic of Ireland. Founded in 1921, the FAI is an affiliate of both FIFA and UEFA with responsibility for overseeing the development, administration and promotion of football. Connected with every community around the country, the FAI aims to have a positive impact - on and off the pitch - to foster the game's continued growth & participation levels. The FAI is seeking to appoint an Independent Non-Executive Director with People and Culture expertise to join the Board.Position Overview:As an Independent Non Executive Director on the FAI Board, you will play a key role in providing strategic guidance, governance, and oversight. Working alongside a diverse and experienced Board, you will leverage your expertise to support the Senior Leadership Team on all the strategic goals for the Association.Key Responsibilities:To contribute People & Culture knowledge and experience to the corporate governance decision making processes.Monitor the development and implementation of the People & Culture and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategies to support the strategic development of the Association.To ensure that all People and Culture policies and practices of the Association are fair and transparent and adhere to good employment practice and relevant legislation.To support the Senior Leadership Team in developing management capacity and capability at all levels of the Association.To promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion practices and a positive and engaging culture.To provide advice and support to the Senior Leadership Team, offering constructive feedback and mentorship.To support the Board on the ongoing performance appraisal of the CEO.To act as Chairperson of the Executive Performance and Remuneration Committee.To contribute to the broad business of the FAI and contribute to all key organisational decisions.Qualifications & Experience:Proven track record at a senior executive level with a deep understanding of the People, Culture and Organisation Development landscape.Board Experience: Previous experience serving as a director or advisor on a corporate, non-profit, or public sector board.Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated ability to contribute to an organisational transformation.Leadership: Ability to inspire and influence executive teams and stakeholders at the highest levels.Integrity: A commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability.Personal Attributes:Strategic thinkerCollaborative and team-oriented approachExcellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skillsIndependent judgment and the courage to challenge the status quoTime Commitment:This role requires attendance at monthly board meetings (either in-person or virtually), active participation in committee work, attendance at AGM and ad hoc engagements as needed.
