The CUH/UCC Cancer Centre is hiring a Professor of Cancer Clinical Trials. This is an academic oncology post for a medical oncologist who will have a joint appointment with University College Cork and the CUH/UCC Cancer Centre.
Cancer Research @UCC is a translational & clinical cancer research centre within the College of Medicine & Health, University College Cork. Situated on the 4th floor of UCC’s Western Gateway Building, the centre interfaces with cancer researchers across UCC and (inter)nationally, and with UCC affiliated regional hospitals and Cancer Clinical Trials Units.
The CUH/UCC Cancer Centre became members of the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) in 2023 and anticipate accreditation as an OECI Cancer Centre in 2025. This process and accreditation is a guarantor of excellence in clinical care, research, clinical trials and education, and will enable close cooperation with peer institutions and major teaching hospitals across Europe, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.

Job Description
The Professor of Cancer Clinical Trials will join the Cancer Research @UCC and Cancer Centre leadership teams and will have office and laboratory space immediately available to them. The Professor is anticipated to have international recognition in cancer clinical trials and assist with expansion of the portfolio of investigator-initiated trials bringing UCC and international science to the patient bedside, as well as attracting a new portfolio of industry-sponsored and international collaborative clinical trials to the region.
The Professor will be supported by the team in Cancer Research @UCC, the UCC Cancer Trials Group, the CRF-UCC and hospital sites. They will play a leading role in supporting and enabling the Cancer Clinical Trials Programme of the CUH/UCC Cancer Centre and reaching national and OECI targets for clinical trial accrual. It is also anticipated that the Professor will work closely with Cancer Trials Ireland and national HRB-funded clinical trials infrastructures.
