The Environmental Technician will be responsible for the execution of tasks in the Pathogen Laboratory in the Macroom Supply Point.
The successful candidate will provide quality support, support the environmental monitoring programme through ongoing monitoring and performance tracking, perform microbiological testing of environmental samples, continuous quality control improvement, and provide real-time feedback to key stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
1. Administration of environmental monitoring program.
2. Execution of environmental monitoring analysis in compliance with cGLP and SOPs, including sample administration, media preparation, sample preparation, and result reporting.
3. Reporting of results on LIMS and generation of results report.
4. Providing real-time updates on analysis to the Laboratory Manager.
5. Maintain high hygiene standards in the pathogen lab.
6. Maintaining stocks of consumables including ordering of consumables.
7. Drive Continuous Quality Control Improvement.
8. Collect, prepare and/or test samples as required.
9. Ad hoc duties and projects as assigned by the Laboratory Manager; flexibility is required.
About you
Key Requirements
1. Third-level qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
2. 1-2 years of microbiological laboratory experience within the food industry; experience in environmental analysis is an advantage.
3. Knowledge of Current Good Laboratory Practice (cGLP) and Good Housekeeping Practice standards is essential.
4. Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Technologies and previous experience of using Quality Systems (such as LIMS, Bamboo) is highly desirable.
5. Knowledge of quality and food safety legislation.
6. Knowledge of ISO Methods and PCR Technology would be beneficial.
