The psychology services in HSE Mid-West in line with Sláintecare reconfiguration has been realigned to work across the full geographical area with responsibility for specific care groups.
The Mid West Primary Care Psychology Service provides a wide range of psychological supports to young people and their families up to the age of 18 years.
The Primary Care psychology service is managed by a Principal Psychologist Manager who has overall responsibility for governance and strategic planning and development of the service.
The Principal Psychologist (Specialist - Primary Care) will support the Principal Psychologist Manager and work in partnership with the other professional disciplines and operational managers ensuring high standards of professional practice across Primary Care Services.
This position will have responsibility for the day to day management of the Primary Care, Psychology services in the HSE Mid-West.
The current WTE complement is approximately 30 staff across the following grades, Psychology Assistant, Staff Grade and Senior Grade, as well as 90 WTE Trainee psychologists.
The service has close links with the UL, NUIG and MIC Clinical and Educational Psychology Doctoral programmes.
Staff provide lectures as part of the academic modules of the doctoral programme as per their job specification.
The service in line with its responsibilities under the Memorandums of Agreement in place has responsibility to provide a variety of clinical training placements to trainees from the various accredited programmes.
