Primary responsibilities of A.R.T. Autonomous Systems team are increasing the level of automation in aerospace and defense systems, and redefining autonomous systems technologies to augment human abilities, to collaborate with humans, or replace humans in intensive workload applications. Collaborative autonomy is a fundamental step to redefine aerospace.
We are building a diverse and global team and we are seeking a passionate candidate for a position as Principal Research Engineer, Automated Reasoning in Multi-Agent Systems to join our Autonomous Systems team.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead technical tasks/projects in collaborative autonomy and robotic multi-agent systems
Derive requirements and define conceptual architectures for collaborative autonomy applications
Design and develop research prototypes to fast demonstrate technology concepts for collaborative autonomy
Work closely with Collins Aerospace technology leads and identify emerging trends and technology needs to increase the adoption of automated reasoning in autonomous systems
Contribute to research proposals for internal, customers and government funded projects
Be an advocate for diversity and inclusion in Raytheon Technologies and aerospace and defense industry
Position Requirements
A PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics Engineering with 3+ years of industrial experience or a Master’s degree in these areas with 7+ years of industrial or academic experience
A proven applied or academic research track record in automated reasoning in topics such as graph theory, combinatorial optimization, constraint programming, game theory, graph reasoning, graph knowledge extraction, formal methods, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
Ability to model multi-agent systems and implement algorithms for collaborative agents
Knowledge of GNC or ATM/UTM is preferred
Passion in building prototypes integrating software/hardware components
Motivated self-starter with a strong enthusiasm to learn and passion for speed and agility
Ability to adapt to new challenges and go beyond the original field of expertise
