Locum Consultant Psychiatrist for Psychiatry of Later Life
Cork Kerry Community Healthcare (CKCH) provides community health services for the people of Cork and Kerry. Mental Health Services in the region cover hospital and community care, with initiatives to support individuals requiring specific mental health assistance.
The role is based at Cork University Hospital, where you will work as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Psychiatry of Later Life service. This service focuses on providing specialist mental health care to older adults in the community and inpatient settings.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients under your clinical charge. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex mental health conditions
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient
In addition to providing direct patient care, you will also be responsible for leadership and administrative duties, including:
* Participating in the development and implementation of the Clinical Directorate Service Plan
* Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless transitions of care between hospital and community settings
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of mental health legislation, policies, and procedures is essential, as well as experience working with older adults and their families.
