Unified Communications (UC) Engineer/Administrator - €450 Per Day
A main Irish government department requires a Unified Communications (UC) Engineer/Administrator for a long-term contract to play a key role in a major upgrading project.
The Department currently uses approximately 5,800 laptops and 2,100 smartphones, which are managed through a Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) System. The department is about to embark on the implementation of a new UEM system called Omnissa Workspace One, which is currently being upgraded.
The UC Engineer will be involved in the implementation of this new system and will provide support for its management and administration during all phases of its rollout across all the Department's sites. In doing so, they will also provide expert technical services, advanced customer support, and troubleshooting of the enterprise mobile estate and operations.
While the initial term of this contract is 2 years, there is a strong probability of extension well beyond this date for a further 1-2 years. Responsibilities of the role
1. Management, maintenance, monitoring, and reporting on the Unified Endpoint Management System (Workspace One)
2. Assisting with the implementation, maintenance, building, and configuration of infrastructure components in virtualized environments
3. Applying tools, techniques, and processes to track, log, and correct information related to configuration items
4. Make recommendations to ensure proper operation and performance
5. Investigating and resolving problems in systems, processes, and services
6. Security management to include anti-virus, patch, and update management to help mitigate risks to service quality
7. Capacity management for servers and applications - measure and assess platform capacity to meet future scalability of systems to ensure minimal downtime through predictable action
8. Involvement in problem and change management processes including working with the technical teams to facilitate successful testing and introduction of new products to the platform
9. Production of performance, usage, and analytic reports as required
10. Configuration and management of the Workspace One platform to ensure that it meets the organisation's needs. This includes configuring policies, settings, and profiles to ensure that devices and applications are secure and compliant
11. Mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM)
12. Managing application deployment in the Workspace One platform, including installing, removal, and updating as required
13. Management of user accounts/device accounts including creation, deletion, password resets, and assigning permissions and roles
Essential Candidate Requirements
1. Third Level degree or postgraduate qualification in IT, Computer Science, or other relevant area
2. VMware Certified Professional - Digital Workspace 2018 or Equivalent
3. 4-6 years' experience as a Unified Communications Engineer preferably working with Unified Endpoint Systems/Mechanisms
4. Good general knowledge of Cisco Systems Networking technologies, Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server
5. Demonstrable experience working in a customer support capacity within a large enterprise environment
6. Resident in Ireland and able to commit to being onsite in Dublin City Centre 2-3 days a week
Highly Desirable

2. Experience with the Omnissa Workspace One unified endpoint management system. While experience with similar systems would also be valuable, direct experience and familiarity with this system would be most welcome.
3. Experience or strong knowledge of working in or with the IT department of a main government department
