Job Title: Environmental Officer
Location: Dublin, Ireland (this is an in-person position)
Contract Type: Part-time and fixed-term (12 weeks)
Job Overview:
Gaia's client is seeking a motivated Environmental Officer to join the Waste Enforcement Team on a part-time, fixed-term contract for 12 weeks. Alternatively, candidates available for 7 weeks full-time will also be considered. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, conducting inspections, and supporting enforcement actions related to waste management in Dublin.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and investigations to ensure compliance with Irish waste management regulations and legislation.
* Assist in enforcing waste-related laws, identifying non-compliance, and implementing corrective actions.
* Prepare reports, documentation, and recommendations for regulatory enforcement and compliance monitoring.
* Engage with businesses, landowners, and the public to promote environmental best practices and legal requirements.
* Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities and environmental agencies.
* Support initiatives aimed at waste reduction, illegal dumping prevention, and sustainable environmental practices.
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience or knowledge in environmental compliance, auditing, and inspections, particularly in waste management.
* Strong understanding of Irish environmental legislation and regulations related to waste enforcement.
* Ability to work in person in Dublin and travel to different sites as required.
* Full, clean Irish or EU driver’s license (manual vehicles required).
* 1-2 years' experience with an Environmental degree or 5 years of investigative experience.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
