Job Description
As part of the site's electrical engineering team, you will act as a subject matter expert on all electrical items, ensuring standards are maintained, and systems are designed, installed, and commissioned in line with national and plant standards.
You will support the development and management of the site electrical infrastructure, making improvements for reliability and robustness to meet current needs and future growth.
You will project manage electrical projects on site and serve as the electrical SME for multidisciplinary projects when required.
You will lead or support the design of instrument wiring, drawings, loop diagrams, MCC schematics, and general service/lighting schematics. You will review outputs from consultants to ensure adherence to site standards and design philosophies.
You will develop and update statutory periodical maintenance schedules for all site electrical equipment, switchgear, and control gear.
You will create electrical preventive maintenance (PM) plans where they do not exist and expand existing PMs.
You will support electrical maintenance activities, including thermographic, LV and HV maintenance, PAT testing, etc., ensuring recommendations are implemented for site compliance.
You will develop and maintain up-to-date electrical specifications and drawings for all installations.
You will manage electrical contractors on site, ensuring compliance with specifications and project deliverables.
You will oversee maintenance and upgrades of electrical systems such as lighting, emergency lighting, UPS, small power, BMS, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, cable containment, earthing, lightning protection, transformers, and MV/LV panels.
You will troubleshoot electrical process problems and equipment failures, determining root causes and initiating repairs using lean tools and techniques.
You will coordinate with quality and EHS teams when electrical SME input is required.
You will provide leadership and coaching to technicians, supporting problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts. You will ensure project design and installations comply with EU directives like ATEX, Machinery Directive, and CE standards.
You will handle procurement activities such as placing POs for equipment and spares and input data into the SAP maintenance system to identify and address recurring issues. You will develop critical spares lists for electrical utilities and main MCC panels, ensuring availability at all times.
Education
Minimum BEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Work Experience
Ideally extensive electrical engineering experience in an FDA or GMP environment, or in other highly regulated industries.
Experience in electrical circuit design, managing electrical drawing records, and familiarity with ATEX environments is advantageous.
Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance, quality, environment, health and safety standards, and relevant directives such as ATEX, IEC, and EN standards.
Experience managing projects through their full lifecycle and CE marking processes is preferred.
Experience with instrumentation and automation controls is a plus.
