The Senior Software Engineer will help deliver assisted automation solutions through the building of UI’s, APIs, and Services. This includes design, development, modification, and/or testing of Optum software applications for the healthcare industry in an agile environment. You will support the wider team with coaching and mentoring.
Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Software Engineer:
1. Design, implement, and maintain Enterprise applications within all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
2. Develop, test, implement, and maintain application software working with established processes
3. Establish, refine, and integrate tools and software as needed
4. Identify production and non-production application issues proactively
5. Identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize applications
6. Provide technical support and consultation and serve as a mentor
7. Provide architectural input over solution designs to ensure consistency and continuity across the company’s IT infrastructure and delivery teams
8. Develop and configure automation processes as per the process requirements document to meet requirements defined by the business
9. Comply with and help enforce design and coding standards, policies, and procedures
10. Communicate any identified project risks and issues to the delivery/project manager and provide inputs to the change control process
11. Support the Operational Teams during the UAT and rollout phases
12. Train and mentor other developers within the team on development and delivery disciplines
13. Develop team standards and best practices while keeping up to date with industry standards and technology changes
14. Investigate new technologies and ensure effective partnership with OPTUM’s Innovation Lab and Analytics teams
Required Qualifications of the Senior Software Engineer:
1. Significant experience with software development, programming, and database concepts
2. Proven experience in delivering successful IT/business software projects
3. Advanced understanding of programming concepts and a programming background in one or more modern languages, preferably C# or Java
4. Experience in JavaScript – React/Typescript
5. Exposure to Microsoft Azure – both on Prem and Public Cloud
6. Solid understanding of typical Enterprise IT infrastructure/architecture
7. Good understanding of the key requirements documents involved in a delivery lifecycle
8. Well-organized with good communication and reporting skills
9. Self-motivated, team player, action and results oriented
10. Exposure to Agile delivery methods
11. Experience working with distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Software Engineer:
1. Experience in delivering an automated process into production using an RPA tool (UIPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, others)
2. Previous experience in the Insurance Industry (preferably Health Insurance)
3. Previous experience with Advanced Intelligent Automation, AI/Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Computer Vision
4. Strong database skills with proven experience using SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.
