Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer categories. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Buchanan’s and Windsor whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness.
Diageo’s new €200 million state-of-the-art carbon neutral brewery in Newbridge, Co. Kildare will brew lagers and ales including Rockshore, Harp, Smithwick’s, Kilkenny and Carlsberg. With a capacity of 2 million hectolitres, it will be the second largest brewing operation in Ireland after St. James’s Gate and support the future growth of Diageo Ireland’s beer brands.
The state-of-the-art brewery will be powered with 100% renewable energy and will harness the latest process technology to minimise overall energy and water consumption. The target date for the brewery to begin production is 2026 and it will facilitate the growth of overall beer exports from Ireland. It will also facilitate enhanced capacity for the production of the fast-growing Guinness 0.0 at the traditional home of Guinness at St James’s Gate in Dublin.
About the Role
As the construction commences on Ireland’s first purpose-built carbon neutral brewery, we have an exciting opportunity for a QEHS Manager to join our growing Project Operations team.
As a key part of the project operations team, the QEHS Manager will drive governance, quality, and facilities aspects of project design and operational readiness. This role involves building a compliance framework for the new site and providing leadership to drive key operational results.
The QEHS manager will be line manager for the project Quality Analytical Lead and Governance Support Lead roles during the project phase and will support the resourcing and onboarding of the Lab Quality Technician team. This project role concludes after the full handover of the plant to the Operations team in February 2026.

Key Responsibilities
The QEHS Manager will lead three critical Operational Readiness workstreams: Governance, Quality, and Facilities. As part of the project team, reporting to the Operational Readiness lead, you will collaborate with multiple teams to gain insights and share best practices, including the central Beer Governance team and Diageo Technical teams.
You will support residual process design elements of the Severe & Fatal Injury Prevention process and Design Risk Assessment.
Your governance responsibilities include developing process design safety and compliance items, ensuring the site is prepared with all relevant certifications such as CARM, FSSC 22000, and various ISO standards, and building compliance capability across operational roles and suppliers.
In the quality workstream, you will oversee the quality framework for the brewery, lead the lab build and equipment installation, implement the LIMS system, and support the liquid validation process through commissioning.
You will also lead the development of all facilities management aspects, working with contracting partners on hygiene, security, catering, and other facilities needs.
Additionally, you will deliver safety, environmental, and food safety training programs, develop a training program for the quality technician cohort, and work with the project Finance Manager to create budget for governance, quality, and facilities activities.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have:
1. Relevant technical, science or equivalent degree, or practical experience in the relevant discipline
2. NEBOSH or IOSH certification is advantageous.
3. People management experience.
4. Good working knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety, and Food Safety Legislation
5. Experience working in ISO environments.
6. Experience conducting internal audits.
7. Ability to think creatively and develop new work practices and approaches.
8. Demonstrates role model behaviour and coaches’ others to exceed mandatory requirements.
9. Experience managing budgets.
10. IBD Brewing qualification is advantageous.
11. Understanding of IE License requirements
12. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to drive resolutions during the project phase.
13. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and cross-functionally.
14. Experience working with external bodies (Bord Bia, DOA, HSA, etc.)
15. Ability to think creatively, with a blue-sky mindset to imagine and develop new work practices and approaches.
