JOB DESCRIPTION:
As demand for solar PV systems continues to rise, the client is expanding their leadership team and seeking a dynamic Sales Director – Renewables to drive growth and shape their strategic direction.
This is a high-impact role, offering the opportunity to lead an ambitious sales team, develop new market opportunities, and play a key part in the company's continued expansion in the Irish renewables sector.
As Sales Director – Renewables (Solar Energy), you will be responsible for leading and scaling the company's sales operations, ensuring we continue to dominate the Irish solar PV market.
You will develop and implement strategic sales plans, build strong relationships with key stakeholders, and drive revenue growth across both the residential and commercial sectors.
This is a role for a highly motivated leader who understands the renewable energy landscape, has a proven track record in scaling sales teams, and is passionate about delivering sustainable energy solutions.
KEY RESULTS/
ACCOUNTABILITIES EXPECTED FROM THE ROLE:
Sales Strategy & Business Growth Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to increase market share in Ireland's solar PV sector.
Drive new business development, identifying and capitalising on emerging opportunities in the residential and commercial solar markets.
Establish and implement sales processes, KPIs, and performance metrics to ensure consistent growth.
Expand the company's presence across Ireland, developing key partnerships and securing high-value contracts.
Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and expand the sales team, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and tools to exceed targets.
Foster a high-performance sales culture, motivating the team to deliver exceptional results.
Oversee recruitment, training, and development of sales professionals to support business expansion.
Key Account & Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain relationships with key commercial clients, developers, contractors, and government bodies to drive long-term partnerships.
Work with financial providers to structure solar financing solutions for businesses and homeowners.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, positioning the company as a leader in renewable energy.
Market & Industry Expertise Stay ahead of industry trends, government incentives, and policy changes affecting the solar energy sector in Ireland.
Provide insights on market dynamics, competitor activity, and customer demand to inform sales strategies.
Collaborate with technical and operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery and customer satisfaction.
Revenue & Commercial Responsibility Own the sales budget, P&L responsibility, and revenue forecasting, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth.
Drive pricing strategies and contract negotiations, ensuring competitive yet profitable deal structures.
Identify potential joint ventures or partnerships that align with the company's growth objectives.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS:
Experience & Industry Knowledge 10+ years of sales leadership experience, with at least 5 years in the renewable energy sector, ideally solar PV.
Proven track record in scaling sales teams and driving revenue growth in a fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of solar energy solutions, financing models, and Irish renewable energy incentives.
Experience in B2B and B2C sales, particularly in the commercial and residential solar markets.
Skills & Competencies Strategic thinker with exceptional leadership and team management skills.
Strong business development and key account management expertise.
Excellent negotiation and contract structuring abilities.
Data-driven approach, with a focus on KPIs, sales analytics, and performance tracking.
