As a Service Engineer II on our Site Infrastructure Compute and Storage Engineering team, you'll play a crucial role in preempting threats and maintaining the health and reliability of our services. In this role within the Infrastructure & Engineering Services team, you will leverage the latest technologies with a focus on automation and security, empowering Microsoft employees with the tools and services that define both the physical and digital future of work. You will also be responsible for administering on-premises Hyper-converged Infrastructure (HCI) servers and Azure Local within our private, air-gapped cloud that hosts critical internal services supporting the entire engineering community at Microsoft.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering
o OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Technical experience with large scale, on-premises compute and storage systems administration.
* Experience developing code, scripts, systems, and/or tools that support Infrastructure as Code and Automation.
* Relevant certifications in security are a plus. (CISSP, CEH, CASP+, CySA+, SANS/CompTIA Security Certs, etc.).
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Responsibilities
* Drives efficiency by developing scripts and/or automation and leveraging telemetry data to identify patterns and trends that drive continuous improvement.
* Responsible for the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and/or performance of supported infrastructure and services.
* Partners and shares technical expertise with interdisciplinary teams, demonstrating a deep understanding of services and the ability to clearly articulate the specific technologies of a service to enable development and ongoing maintenance.
* Resolves issues with services, minimizes customer impact, and documents solutions that inform ongoing improvements and prevent the recurrence of similar issues.
* Partners closely with internal customers and engineering teams to conduct root cause analyses, share end-to-end expertise in services, and to mitigate and resolve issues.
* Adheres to security and compliance standards and works with security and compliance teams to identify and address relevant issues.
