Job Description:
Maintenance Technician
We are currently looking for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Person to join our maintenance team in our Elm Green Nursing Home. Trinity Care is renowned for the highest standards in Residential services; the Maintenance Person plays a crucial role in improving the lives of our Residents.
This role is to ensure the smooth operation & maintenance of our facilities to a high standard.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the building, grounds, and plant room areas.
The right candidate will:
* Be a problem solver, using creative and innovative ways to resolve maintenance issues. An electrical/plumbing or carpentry trade is necessary for this role.
* Oversee Contractors and ensure their work is to a high standard.
* Perform minor repairs of all building and equipment including repairs associated with their Trade qualification.
* Assist with renovations/remodelling of buildings.
* Complete a building check monthly, identifying areas for maintenance work and coordinate with PPIM for scheduling.
* Update the maintenance schedule with the Director of Nursing on a monthly basis.
* Carry out necessary works in the home to negate the requirement for external contractors where possible.
* Liaise with external contractors where necessary e.g. electrics, plumbing, ceiling, flooring etc.
* Liaise and order supplies with building companies.
* Participate and contribute in your Fire Management role.
* Complete daily/weekly/monthly checklists for fire equipment, radiators, water etc.
* Monitor monthly/quarterly servicing by external contractors and ensure correct scheduling of services e.g. fire alarm system, extinguishers, lifts, pest control, equipment etc.
* File all service certificates in the maintenance folder.
* Respond to any emergency maintenance as required.
* Each morning ensure the front entrance is clean and tidy and well maintained.
* Undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the PIC/GM/PPIM.
* Top up water coolers daily.
* Ensure that all clinical waste is stored in the appropriate locked bin.
* Liaise with RGNS for the collection of the yellow bin/small yellow bins etc by Key Waste.
* Ensure area outside kitchen is well maintained and liaise with chef when there are recycling/waste items for removal.
* Schedule checks of supplies and store areas, liaise with kitchen and housekeeping staff for particular orders.
* Check all stock received is correct in accordance with the order sheets.
* Correctly store any deliveries in a timely manner.
* Ensure work is carried out in compliance with legislation and health & safety protocols.
* Manage the timely workload of the maintenance department while effectively dealing with site priorities.
* Work closely with department managers and staff to ensure that all issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
* Electrical and Mechanical trouble-shooting.
* Ensure all service and check sheets are kept in date and stored in the Fire register & water management books.
* Maintain the building fabric to a high standard which will include painting & decorating.

Skills:
* A plumbing/carpentry or electrical trade qualification is necessary for this role.
* Candidate must have prior experience of buildings maintenance in a similar fast-paced and demanding environment.
* Should have an innate ability to problem solve to avoid external contractor costs.
* Must be flexible to undertake a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks.
* Should possess the ability to deal with residents of the Nursing home with care and compassion as well as with their families.
