What does a great Technical Product Manager (Product Owner) do?
We are currently seeking a Technical Product Manager to join our Air Offer team, supporting our Revenue Optimization area. Air Offer is responsible for maintaining and evolving our entire pricing platform. Pricing is the heart of our search systems as welland includes negotiated private fare data. Travelport’s Revenue Optimization private fares products are web-based solutions that allow travel agencies, consolidators and airlines to enter their negotiated airline fare contracts (private fare data), that is integrated with industry distributed airline filed data. A successful Technical Product Manager will work in collaboration with our agile development environment, representing the customer on the agile team. It is the Technical Product Manager’s responsibility to ensure the team is focused on the right work and priorities and to help the team achieve iteration and monthly commitments. The Technical Product Manager will be versed in travel industry technology and represent the needs of the products into the agile teams.
This position requires extensive collaboration with Product Managers, other Technical Product Managers, and other resources across various product pillars to ensure consolidation and prioritization across many initiatives and to ensure the Search, Pricing, and Revenue Optimization platform strategy and standards (. architecture, design, capability, quality) are incorporated into Air products.
Responsibilities include:
1. Ensure product delivery success by executing on Technical Product Manager best practices in an agile environment
2. Synchronize with the Product Manager/s, Engineering and other Technical Product Managers to ensure new work is brought into the backlog and prioritized appropriately across the teams
3. Create user stories from collated requirements by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, working with the development team/s and architecture to implement the user stories including all undocumented edge cases and non-functional requirements (performance, scale, redundancy
4. Develop deep functional knowledge and understand the technical composition of systems that support it, ensuring products comply with airline and industry technical standards
5. Ensure everyone in the team understands the user story and is aligned in the development process
6. Participate in daily scrum, planning meetings and iteration reviews or comparable agile ceremonies, to ensure team schedules/tasks reflect the prioritized backlogs. Contribute to lessons learned to continually improve team’s performance
7. Capable of making decisions based on current information and keeping stakeholders informed
8. Responsible for User Acceptance Criteria & Sign Off (ensuring the requirements are clear to enable acceptance criteria to be met; ensuring sign off against the criteria)
9. The Technical Product Manager will have an understanding of the market and is focused on maximizing value for the customer
10. The Technical Product Manager inspires the agile team to work together to achieve the product goals and communicates the broader Product Strategy to foster an engaged, proactive and innovative Delivery Team which is able to perform within its scope and within timeboxed commitments.
Who we are looking for in this role:
11. Working knowledge of Agile principles; Technical Product Manager (Product Owner) experience
12. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Webex Teams, Slack, and JIRA
13. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
14. Ability and desire to work with people all over the world, with the probability of a varying work schedule to accommodate different time zones
15. Ability to articulately communicate and express complex concepts concisely and effectively
16. Familiarized with working with Objectives and Key results framework and using a metric-driven approach
17. Excellent collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams and facilitate conversations that lead to agreed direction
18. Bachelor’s degree or equivalently qualified by experience
19. Able to travel 5-10% of the time
20. Experience within the travel industry is desired and experience with air fare pricing is preferred
21. Language: English (Proficient)
