The Role
As a Senior Tax Consultant within the Firm, you will work alongside the Tax Director to assist with leading and managing the Tax Advisory, Corporate Tax and VAT Departments.
Leadership and Management
Lead and manage the Tax Advisory, Corporate Tax and VAT departments, ensuring high standards of service delivery;
VAT & CT Compliance: Ensure the VAT & CT teams carry out timely and accurate preparation, submission, and payment of VAT/CT returns in accordance with local regulations;
Mentor and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development;
Design and lead training initiatives for the team;
Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of team members;
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders such as audit, accounting, corporate compliance and operations teams and other UHY global network firms to address Irish tax related issues and provide tax guidance on transactions;
Liaise with external advisors, tax authorities, and other relevant parties to provide additional added value to our clients.
Client Advisory:
Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored tax solutions.
Advise clients on complex tax issues, including mergers and acquisitions, international tax planning, retirement planning and cross-border transactions.

Technical Expertise:
Stay up-to-date with changes in Irish and international tax laws and regulations.
Ensure the firm's compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Tax Planning across all tax heads: Develop and implement tax strategies to optimise tax efficiency and minimise liabilities for our clients.
Business Development:
Drive business growth through the acquisition of new clients and expansion of existing client relationships.
Identify opportunities for cross-selling services within the firm.
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Operational Excellence:
Develop and implement efficient tax compliance processes and procedures.
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of VAT and CT filings and compliance.
Manage departmental budgets and financial performance.
About you – Key skills and competencies:
Membership of the Irish Tax Institution
At least 5 years + CTA experience in a Management role in Tax Practice
You should have a deep understanding of Irish Tax laws.
Experience working in a private client tax group or a private business tax group in a large firm, or in a specialist tax firm
Strong technical and client relationship skills
Proven track record in leading and managing a team of tax professionals and working collaboratively with other non-tax teams
Currently one of the lead advisers on a portfolio of private clients/private business
Proven ability to support the ongoing development of the team
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
About You
Tax Technician or AITI;
Minimum 5 years experience working in VAT;
A good understanding and knowledge of Irish VAT and the Irish tax legislation;
A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Confidence in dealing with people and strong client-facing skills;
Self driven with an ability to implement and drive improvements and changes within the VAT practice;
Self-starter with the ability to use initiative and to prioritise with excellent time management skills;
Good attention to detail.
