Senior Pharmacist
The Senior Pharmacist will report directly to the Chief Pharmacist.
Purpose of Post
* To support the Chief Pharmacist in the day-to-day running and the future development of the pharmacy service.
* To participate in the ward-based clinical pharmacy service, predominately within the Rehabilitation Units.
Eligibility Criteria
* Qualifications & Experience:
o Candidates must be registered in the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists for Ireland or be entitled to be so registered.
o Have not less than three years satisfactory post-registration experience.
* Desirable Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:
o Pre or post-registration experience in a hospital/clinical setting.
o A higher qualification in clinical or hospital pharmacy (Diploma or Masters).
o Previous participation in Professional and/or Governance Committees.
o An understanding of the HIQA Medication Safety Monitoring Programme in relation to rehabilitation healthcare settings.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
* General Accountability:
o Participate in the Pharmaceutical Service as part of a professional and dedicated team.
o Support the Chief Pharmacist in the day-to-day running and the future development of the pharmacy service.
* Clinical Service:
o Provide a patient-focused clinical pharmacy service including prescription review, patient counselling, and medication reconciliation on admission.
o Act as a specialist resource for the patients and other healthcare professionals.
* Dispensary Services:
o Work with the pharmaceutical technicians/discounters/pharmacists/dispensary staff to ensure that patients have all required drug therapy available to them when required.
* Work systems:
o Be fully conversant with all approved systems of work and documentation associated with the pharmaceutical care of the patient.
Terms & Conditions of Employment
* Senior Pharmacist Peamount Healthcare, Newcastle, Co. Dublin.
* Tenure:
o The Current Vacancy available is a Temporary Senior Pharmacist role on a whole-time basis.
* Remuneration:
o Remuneration is in accordance with the salary scale approved by the Department of Health.
* Working Week:
o The hours allocated to this post are 35 hours per week with 7 hours as a standard working day.
