Purpose of Position:
To deliver the Early Learning Initiative's Doodle Den Programme.
The Early Learning Initiative is seeking to recruit primary school teachers or individuals with a background in early years education/community work/social care to fill a part-time (5.5 hours per week) position for an afterschool literacy programme for Senior Infants in Dublin's inner-city area.
Doodle Den Aims and Objectives:
The programme aims to improve children's overall literacy skills by providing opportunities for them to develop their literacy in a fun and relaxed way.
Key Responsibilities:
* Co-facilitating all sessions of the literacy programme and ensuring fidelity of service delivery to the Doodle Den manual.
* Taking the lead in parts of each session.
* Organising the learning environment and materials as per the manual.
* Coordinating assessment of participants involved.
* Planning and involving volunteers in the programme.
* Ensuring the provision of one healthy snack daily.
* Planning and implementing family days.
* Co-facilitating the parent component of the programme.
* Contacting parents and engaging with parents to achieve the aims of the service.
Requirements:
We are looking for individuals with a relevant qualification in early childcare and education and a minimum of two years' experience of working with children and families in education.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with five and six-year-old children, good time management, administrative, and organisational skills, excellent behaviour management skills, and an interest in literacy.
Applicants must be available from 1:30 pm on Mondays to Thursdays and be willing to commit to ongoing training and professional development.
