The EHS Manager, as a member of the site management team will be responsible for driving EHS compliance and ensuring robust and effective EHS programs and procedures are followed in line with Birds Eye Site, Customer and Legal requirements.
* Champion Health, Safety & Environmental management on site and actively promote a developing safety culture within the site.
* Ensure that EH&S key performance indicators are fully integrated into, and properly reflected, in overall site performance reporting.
* Act as the site’s expert resource on all health, safety, environmental and employer liability claims issues.
* Champion the need for improvements year on year in driving down accidents, management of near misses and in improving the sites employers’ liability claims performance.
* Support the delivery of the Birds Eye audit programme, working on a cross category basis as an auditor on other Business Unit sites.
* Implement internal health, safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
* Environmental Budget – including manning budget for on site environmental team / chemical budget.
* H&S Budget – including training, capex.
* Waste and other material resale.
* As a member of the site management team, you will be responsible for driving the site EHS strategy and improvements.
* Monthly reporting to Division of accident stats and site performance / monthly reporting against group standard implementation.
* Ensuring full compliance with all group, customer and legal requirements for Environmental and Health and Safety.
* Develop and implement the site EHS vision and strategy in line with group strategy to ensure continued improvement and that all site, customer and legal requirements are being met.
* To drive the development and implementation of a strong safety culture inclusive of all colleagues and contractors.
* To provide strategies to plan and organize work systems to reduce health and safety risks and recommending suitable adaptations to plant, machinery and processes.
* Drive the continuous improvement agenda across the site, incorporating a range of communication vehicles: newsletters, staff notice boards, H&S alerts, behavioural walks and discussions on a one to one and group basis.
* Updating and inputting the site emergency response plan and crisis management plan.
* To develop, implement and update environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, training and manuals.
* To manage relationships with external bodies and customers and to be the first point of contact for audits and audit closed out. Auditing of internal EHS practices on site to include internal and contractor audits.
* Liaise with 3rd party stakeholders – HSA, EPA, IBEC, KCC, Bord Bia, external contractors etc.
* To provide communications and awareness of all environmental, health and safety issues through regular monthly meetings.
* To manage the accident and legal cases on site, in conjunction with the Occupational Health department.
* Keep up to date with new legislation, Company and other safety information, to be able to fulfil the duties of the role.
* Maintaining Employer’s Liability & other records to ensure confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
* Implementing and monitoring accident and incident investigation, reporting and analysis.
* Responsibility for the successful management of the Naas site, Environmental Protection Agency IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control) license to achieve manufacturing site compliance.
* Management of Naas physiochemical waste water treatment plant with responsibility for compliance to local authority / EPA discharge consent discharge limits.
* Management of Naas site feed stuffs registration with the Department of Agriculture to comply with all DAFF requirements for an animal feed producer.
* Responsible for all environmental waste contractors (Thornton’s, Ormond Organic, future pigs, Celtic water etc. (approve invoices and raise PO’s).
* Completion of annual environmental reports for EPA (AER / PRTB / Noise Report / CRAMP).
* To provide an internal service to stakeholders – ensuring that waste is moved efficiently and in compliance with relevant legislative requirements / Advise and support site management in relation to all legislative and regulative requirements with regard to all site EHS activities.
* Other duties as determined by site.

* Experience in EHS Management.
* Environmental and Health and Safety degree or equivalent.
* Exposure to and knowledge of EHS within a high speed production and processing environment.
