GL Accountant Job Description
A leading provider of integrated facilities management services is seeking a skilled GL Accountant to join their team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of accounting tasks within the General Ledger function.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and Reconcile General Ledger Accounts: Ensure the accuracy and compliance of general ledger accounts through meticulous reconciliation.
* Prepare and Post Journal Entries: Accurately prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
* Perform Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Resolve discrepancies and ensure timely completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
* Support Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Close Processes: Assist with journal entries, financial statements, and other closing procedures.
* Prepare Financial Reports and Analyses: Develop timely and accurate financial reports and analyses.
* Reconcile Intercompany Transactions: Resolve discrepancies and accurately record intercompany transactions.
* Record Fixed Asset Acquisitions and Disposals: Post depreciation and perform reconciliations for fixed asset acquisitions and disposals.
* Support Internal and External Audits: Provide documentation and explanations to support internal and external audits.
* Handle Ad-Hoc Tasks and Projects: Complete assigned tasks and projects as directed by management.
Qualifications:
* Professional Accounting Qualification: Possess a recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA).
* Accounting Principles Knowledge: Demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting principles, including IFRS.
* ERP Systems Proficiency: Be proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and possess excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform variance analysis.
* Communication and Collaboration Skills: Exhibit strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
