Here, in Hays Recruitment, our Multinational Medical device client in Galway is hiring an Associate R+D Engineer.The Associate R&D Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering complex acute ischaemic stroke projects with significant technical challenges. Responsible for various aspects of the projects, including process development, design development, implementation of new equipment/automation and new product introduction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Generate device concepts within the project team to address product performance criteria.
2. Develop test models for prototype performance evaluations.
3. Build and test prototypes; analyse test data and interpret to identify optimal solutions to technical challenges.
4. Create detailed components and finish device assembly drawings/specifications using SolidWorks.
5. Identify and select product materials, assembly methods and define process settings.
6. Contribute to the project team to deliver key objectives, meeting performance, time and cost targets.
7. Leverage and liaise with external vendors / resources to achieve project goals.
8. Write procedures, protocols, specifications, and reports.
9. Understanding physician (user) techniques and clinical needs (disease state) and assisting in developing product training materials.
10. Other duties as assigned or required.
Education and/or Experience:
11. Honours degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
12. Approximately 12 months experience in a medical device design or manufacturing environment
13. Design experience with SolidWorks, prototyping, testing.
14. Design and technical ability are based on a broad and deep knowledge of fundamental engineering principles.
15. Data review and statistical methods skills (Minitab).
16. High level of technical writing and reporting skills.
17. Strong work ethic, creative problem-solving, capable of working on his own initiative.
