Role
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with their External accountants and auditors, you will operate and be effective across banking, accounting, HR admin, Purchasing and logistics administration. As this is the only designated finance role, it will require someone who has initiative and is hands-on and highly organised. Your activities will include coordinating and managing the Sales and Purchase ledgers, ensuring supplier bills are processed and invoices processed in a timely manner, maintain balance sheet schedules, reviewing and processing expense claims and initial payroll summaries, whilst ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and provide external accountants and auditors data for month-end accounts and annual accounts by monitoring month-end cut-off routines and reporting processes through data analysis and journals, highlighting discrepancies, errors and control weaknesses.
* Manage monthly accruals and prepayments, ledger reconciliations, investigations and analysis, point of sales margin data compared to stock-taking records, discrepancy reporting and analysis, adherence to the monthly cut-off regime for purchases and sales and the overall veracity of the financial ledgers.
* Manage the business overheads cost base, covering forecasting, budgeting and actual to forecast reporting, highlighting trends, issues and corrective actions.

Minimum Requirements:
* Up and coming individual with up to 4 years’ experience in a similar role (qualified/part qualified AAT is a benefit but not a prerequisite).
* Good Microsoft IT skills, including Excel and analytical ability. Knowledge of SAP, Sage or similar accounting software.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and self-management skills.
* Not a prerequisite, but if the right candidate is also available at shorter notice, then this could be beneficial and advantageous.
* A flexible, pro-active and willing approach, comfortable working within a small team.
* An innovative and inquisitive mind to challenge and improve existing and new processes and controls.
* Ability to produce accurate work and the self-motivation to meet targets.
