This strategy aims to Transform the Power System for Future Generations and Lead the Island's Electricity Sector on Sustainability and Decarbonisation.
The Team
The Infrastructure Office within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. The team is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes, collaborating with partners, customers & communities. The Customers & Connections function prepares and manages contracts for connection and use of the transmission system in Ireland and develops related connection policy as the industry evolves.
Job Purpose
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused and motivated individual to lead a team responsible for delivering high-quality support to EirGrid's connection customers and industry stakeholders in the C&C team. These customers and stakeholders are crucial for achieving our renewable targets, sustainable economic growth, security of supply, and transitioning the Irish power system.
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will interact regularly with senior management and C-suite executives in the customers' and stakeholders' organisations and within EirGrid. They will manage complex and challenging interactions and drive better outcomes for all. The role also requires the candidate to deputise for the Head of C&C when required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the team in a fast-paced, highly collaborative work environment, using knowledge and expertise to transition to a low carbon energy future.
2. Lead the contract team in agreement processing, contract management, the Offer Process Management Office (OPMO), and related activities.
3. Work effectively with EirGrid technical, financial, legal, and regulatory teams to deliver cross-functional objectives.
4. Ensure contractual obligations are met in accordance with approved regulatory connection policy and corporate governance.
5. Input into the consultation, review, coordination, and implementation of terms and conditions of connection and use of system agreements.
6. Represent EirGrid in stakeholder and customer engagements, managing complex and challenging interactions.
7. Lead a team of professionals in work allocation and provide quality and consistent customer service to all customers.
8. Lead strategic change to adapt to meet the changing needs of customers, industry stakeholders, and company strategy.
9. Collaborate with peers within EirGrid to meet business priorities, resolve complex issues, provide guidance, and act as an escalation point to the Head of C&C.
10. Support the development of high-performance capabilities and behaviours within the team.
11. Work collaboratively with and provide support, guidance, and assistance to team members and other teams within EirGrid.
12. Provide thought leadership and advocate industry best practices and principles.
13. Contribute to the strategic development of the C&C team and the Infrastructure Directorate.
Essential Skills/Experience
1. Relevant degree or equivalent qualification with minimum 10 years relevant experience working in a regulated environment, ideally in the energy sector.
2. Broad understanding of the complex technical and commercial aspects of the power industry, customers, and key industry stakeholders.
3. Proven experience of leading effective customer and stakeholder engagement in a complex environment.
4. In-depth knowledge and working experience of Transmission Connection Agreements and contracts and regulatory framework.
5. Working knowledge and experience using a CRM tool.
6. Passionate and engaging with a drive and enthusiasm to deliver on the company Strategy.
7. Excellent communicator able to understand and articulate technical and/or commercial concepts to non-technical audiences and business leaders.
8. Strong ability to lead, persuade, and influence others to move towards a common vision or goal.
