JOB DETAILS
The Media Executive will work as an effective member of the Public Affairs team with a particular focus on supporting the press office function and assisting in the implementation of Ibec’s media strategy. The person will report to the Head of Media and will be a key member of the team who will have the opportunity to further develop existing skills and experience in all aspects of media communications and related public affairs activity. The successful person will work across the broad communications remit of the team but will have a particular focus, interest and skill related to news media.
This is a specified purpose contract related to a maternity leave cover.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
This is a list of the functions/actions to be performed to deliver the necessary outputs and outcomes.
* Be an initial point of contact for media queries and ensure queries are dealt with appropriately and professionally.
* Support the drafting and production of quality Ibec communications, including press statements, campaign material, social media posts and publications.
* Provide press office support for Trade Associations.
* Support policy campaigns.
* Monitor for relevant media coverage
* Work effectively with trade associations, the events team, the marketing team and other parts of the business, to ensure consistency of Ibec brand and message.
* Assist with all media and public affairs related elements of Ibec
* Assist the development of reports and charts on Ibec’s lobbying activities and support effective external communication of this activity

Qualifications, skills and experience
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in Communications/PR; Journalism; Business Policy; Economic; Social Policy.
Knowledge and experience
* Circa 2 years’ experience in a media communications role
* Working knowledge of the Irish business and economic environment and policy development in Ireland and at EU level
* Understanding of media trends, current affairs and the wider stakeholder environment in which Ibec operates

* Writing, editing and analytical skills
* IT skills
* Strong organisation and administration skills
