Baker
The Europe Hotel and Resort, located in the heart of Killarney, is a proud member of the prestigious Killarney Hotels Collection and is consistently recognized as one of Ireland’s top 5-star hotels. We are currently recruiting an experienced and passionate Baker to join our Kitchen Department.
This position is part of Killarney Hotels Collection, which includes our sister properties The Europe Hotel & Resort and Ard na Sidhe Country House. While this role is based at The Dunloe Hotel & Gardens, we take pride in being part of a wider collection that shares the same commitment to excellence and guest experience.
As a Baker, you will:
1. Oversee the daily operations of the bakery within the kitchen.
2. Collaborate with the Head Baker, Executive Chef, and Head Chef to ensure smooth workflow and excellence in all outputs.
3. Contribute to menu development, creating seasonal and innovative baked goods for à la carte and function dining.
4. Prepare premium-quality baked goods, including bread, rolls, sourdoughs, and Irish soda breads, following precise recipes and presentation standards.
5. Maintain allergen documentation and adhere to HACCP and food safety guidelines.
6. Manage stock levels, monitor waste and recycling practices, and maintain the cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
7. Train and motivate staff, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging the team to exceed expectations.
8. Handle multiple tasks, including breakfast, banqueting, and high-volume production, with attention to detail and presentation.
9. Assume full responsibility for daily bakery operations in the absence of the Head Baker.
We are looking for someone with:
1. At least 4 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a 5-star hotel or high-volume dining setting.
2. Expertise in bakery techniques, including yeast breads, sourdoughs, and Irish soda breads.
3. A relevant trade qualification in commercial cookery, NVQ Level 3 certification, and Advanced Food Hygiene Certificates (Level 1 & 2).
4. Strong organizational and communication skills, with fluency in English.
5. A creative approach to food preparation and presentation.
6. Flexibility with working hours, including early starts around 3 a.m.
7. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
8. A positive attitude, professionalism, and a passion for culinary innovation.
