Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer to join the team for a site-based role in the Northwest Region/Galway. The successful candidate will support the Resident Engineer in overseeing bridge maintenance and rehabilitation works, ensuring the project runs smoothly, safely, and on time. You will be involved in site supervision, administration, monitoring, and inspection activities for a range of roads and civils infrastructure projects.
Requirements:
* Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in civil engineering, with a focus on structures or infrastructure
* Experience in structure inspections is a plus
* Knowledge of Public Works contracts and contract administration is an advantage
* Familiarity with monitoring and inspecting roadworks, drainage, pavements, signage, and bridgeworks
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Full driving licence
* Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
Responsibilities:
* Support Resident Engineering staff with day-to-day site activities
* Supervise and inspect construction works, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance
* Assist with contract administration, including keeping accurate records and reports
* Monitor and report on construction progress, identifying any issues and proposing solutions
* Ensure all work complies with current health and safety regulations and best practices
* Work collaboratively within a team, and independently when required, to achieve project goals
* Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders and team members.
