Position Overview:
As a Field Engineer for DiPerk Power Solutions, you will respond to customer needs for diagnosis, services, and repairs on Perkins engines and generators in the field. You will report back to customers and the DiPerk team on work completed and recommend further actions as needed.
Job Description:
A major OEM distributor for Perkins in the UK and Ireland, DiPerk provides complex or minor repairs and regular interval servicing for plant, electric power, agricultural, or marine equipment.
Major Job Functions:
* Communicate with customers to ensure knowledge of customer procedures and adhere to site requirements. Provide an estimate of arrival time.
* Perform pre-task assessments to ensure safe sites and tasks align with DiPerk/Finning safety standards.
* Carry out complex diagnoses to determine engine problems, both mechanical and electrical, including aftertreatment systems using Perkins EST and specialist equipment. Update customers on required work and provide detailed reports for quotes.
* Identify parts needed for repairs, requisition them, and determine expected delivery times for service revisits.
* Undertake major overhauls, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on Perkins engines according to agreed work plans.
* Support call-out rotas for out-of-hours breakdowns and service requests, working overtime and traveling throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays.

Knowledge:
* Field-based diagnosis tools and equipment are essential
* In-depth knowledge of Diesel engines
* Mechanical and electrical engine systems including aftertreatment

* Warranty Processes (desirable)
* Commissioning processes (desirable)
Accountability:
* Conduct local site risk assessments before commencing service work, preparing method statements according to standard procedures and principles
* Inspect and test completed machines to ensure they operate within expected performance levels, reporting any defects or suspect conditions to customers
* Complete service reports and warranty documentation for timely charging of customers and suppliers, ensuring Health and Safety compliance
Education & Experience:
* Engineering qualification in a relevant field (working on engines/generators)
* Marine Engineering
* Heavy Earth Moving equipment
* Construction and static machines
* Power Generation
* 5 years' experience in a field service environment
* Working directly with customers
* Full driving Licence
