The Chief 1 will ensure that the Non-Invasive Cardiology Department provides easy access to services for GPs, Consultants, Scheduling Secretaries, and Patients.
Embracing the culture of flexibility and innovation, the Chief 1 will work closely with the Chief 2 and Head of Cardiology Services to review and implement processes which create an environment of efficiency, quality, and strive for perfection.Key Responsibilities and Deliverables The Chief 1 Cardiac physiologist should be familiar with the techniques and range of equipment used in Non-invasive Cardiology and Cath Lab for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients. Has an understanding of IT workflows throughout the departments and is responsible for troubleshooting all equipment in Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiology whilst engaging clinical engineering Patient centered care. In issues related to patient care and clinical standards, report to the Consultant Cardiologist.
Develop, implement, evaluate and document programmes of care in conjunction with the Consultant Cardiologists. Train, supervise and conduct a full range of non-invasive and invasive cardiac diagnostic tests including ECG, Echocardiography, Holter monitoring, Stress ECG, Pacemaker and ICD implants, follow-up and programming, EP studies and ablations, angiography and angioplasty procedures, and Transoesophageal Echocardiography.
Support the Chief 2 Physiologist in the operational management of the Non-invasive Cardiology department. Represent the cardiology department in hospital-wide committees. Work closely with the Cath Lab staff on scheduling. Supervise the Cardiac Physiologists in the department Delegates appropriate tasks to appropriate personnel, consistent with legal and professional guidelines and departmental standards.
Ensure clinical standards and standards of patient care are maintained. Ensure accurate patient records and departmental statistics are kept, using computerised systems as appropriate and have these statistics and records available as required. Contribute to the development of cardiac diagnostic investigations/services and policies in conjunction with the Consultant Cardiologists. Participate in cost awareness and cost control policies in Department. Participate in selection and interviewing for departmental staff. Be responsible for orientation and training needs of all staff and students assigned to the department. Arrange mandatory attendance for staff training programmes in house. Assist in compilation of training manuals in consultation with other staff. Encourage and promote staff development Participate in staff evaluation and staff performance with individuals involved and with teaching and supervision of staff. Maintain and update staff folders. All other duties as assigned.Clinical Responsibilities The post holder will be familiar with and adhere to Guidelines of the Irish Society of Cardiac Physiologists and Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science The post holder will partake in: The identification of quality, policy & guideline issues. Maintain a professional portfolio. Ensure their professional and personal persona positively reflects the culture of Beacon Hospital. Attend appropriate study days and courses. Be a preceptor and or supervisor to students and newly appointed staff. Participate in their performance review.Other Duties and Responsibilities Utilises effective time management skills.

All employees are expected to remain flexible to meet the needs of the hospital Wears Identification badge when working. Requirements Must possess BSc in Clinical Measurement Science or equivalent certification as cleared by IICMP.
Minimum 3 years experience as a Senior Cardiac Physiologist, Chief 1 Physiologist or above. It is desirable that the candidate has More than 5 years Cath lab experience (Including EP and device implants), Echocardiography, Device follow up and all other Non-invasive Cardiology testing.
QualificationsBSc in Clinical Measurement Science or certified equivalent.
Experience It is desirable that the Chief 1 has five years post qualification experience in a Non Invasive Cardiology Department with high level experience in Cardiac Catherisation Laboratory, echocardiography, Stress testing, EP and Cardiac ablation, cardiac pacing.
Similar qualifications and experience may be accepted. Possess ACLS. Excellent base level general knowledge of cardiology. Excellent organisational skills.
