Role Overview
ACEL Energy is seeking an experienced Design Manager to play a key role in the development and delivery of large-scale solar PV projects. The role will involve overseeing design, technical specifications, and project support across pre-construction and construction phases, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. As Design Manager, you will collaborate with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and local authorities, providing technical expertise and leadership in project execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead technical design and specifications for solar PV projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Provide technical support throughout the pre-construction and construction phases to ensure seamless project execution.
* Work closely with clients, technical teams, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project objectives.
* Oversee and review technical documentation, feasibility studies, and system performance analysis using industry software.
* Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations (HSE and HSA), as well as construction standards.
* Identify and mitigate technical risks while optimising project designs for efficiency and performance.
* Support procurement processes by reviewing technical specifications, contracts, and supplier agreements.
* Liaise with manufacturing supply chain to optimise latest technologies for upcoming projects.
Educational Requirements
* Degree or Masters in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Renewable Energy).
Experience
* 7+ years experience in solar project development or installation, with a track record in technical/design leadership.
* Strong background in engineering, project management, and multi-disciplinary environments.
* Commercial awareness, with experience in procurement, legal contracts, and risk management.
Certifications & Knowledge
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
* Experience with solar design and performance analysis tools such as PVSyst, PVGis, and PVSol.
* Knowledge of construction regulations and health & safety requirements (HSE and HSA).
* Clean driving licence, with the ability to travel to project sites as required.
