Communication:
Maintain open lines of communication with the Clinical Coordinator and provide necessary support.
Operational Management:
Oversee daily operational requirements and collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient service delivery.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure safe operation of equipment, adequate supplies, and adherence to departmental policies and regulatory standards.
Clinical Responsibilities Familiarize and comply with The Professional Scope of Practice Framework (NMBI 2000).
Conduct individual assessments of patient needs and implement care plans.
Ensure patients are cared for in a safe and optimal clinical environment, following nursing and hospital guidelines.
Document care in a professional and timely manner.
Deputize for the Clinical Coordinator when required and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Adhere to Standard Precautions and manage infectious waste appropriately.
Interpersonal Relations Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, physicians, patients, and external agencies.
Communicate effectively during shifts with relevant staff members.
Delegate tasks appropriately and engage in collaborative consultations to enhance patient outcomes.
Participate in quality improvement activities within the unit.
Personal & Professional Responsibilities Maintain a professional portfolio and engage in educational opportunities for patients and families.
Attend relevant training and courses to enhance skills.
Serve as a preceptor or supervisor to new staff and nursing students.
Participate in performance reviews with the Nurse Manager.
Educational Responsibilities Contribute to enhancing learning opportunities in the clinical area.
Assist with the clinical induction of new nursing and support staff.
Take responsibility for personal learning and development.
Other Duties Demonstrate focused attention to interpret sensory inputs effectively.
Utilize time management skills efficiently.
Remain flexible to meet hospital needs, which may include assisting in other departments as necessary.
Person Specification Qualifications:
NMBI Registered General Nurse license.
BLS and ACLS certifications.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
A management course is desirable.
Proven clinical and communication skills.
