About this opportunity
Due to exciting and continued growth, Gleeds Ireland have an opportunity for an Assistant Building Surveyor to deliver building surveying commissions, including surveys, dilapidation advice, party wall advice, and construction projects for new builds, renovations and maintenance works – from feasibility through to design, contract administration to handover and post completion reviews.
This role would be best suited for someone based in the Dublin to support with works in and around the Dublin area.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Assisting Building Surveyors with the preparation of:
1. Feasibility studies
2. Prepare cost plans
3. Designs and detailed specifications
4. Submissions for planning and building regulation approvals
5. Tender documentation and managing the tender process, including designing tender marking schemes
2. Assisting building surveyors with:
1. Evaluating and reporting on tenders
2. Administration of construction contracts
3. Undertaking surveys including condition surveys, DDA, Fire Risk Assessments, Schedules of Condition and Acquisition Surveys
4. Preparing reports for customers
5. Undertaking party wall surveyor duties
6. Providing dilapidations advice and delivering dilapidations assessments and negotiating with other parties
7. Undertaking quality monitoring roles of major construction projects
8. Successfully complete the Gleeds internal APC preparation programme; and self-development training in readiness for attaining Chartered status (RICS)
9. Ensuring that all quantitative and financial information has been independently checked before issue, including maintaining evidence of independent checks

Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
* Further post-graduate experience in a building surveying role
* Good knowledge of construction methods and materials
* Good knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies
* Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written
* Good organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changes
* Sound problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills
* Sound ICT Skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Ability to work as part of a team
Qualifications
* RICS exempting degree or post graduate diploma
