Our client, a community organisation providing help and support to people who want to make positive life changes, is seeking a Employability Officer to join their team in Belfast.
The position is temporary ongoing with a pay rate of £13.47 per hour plus Holiday pay, working Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 0900 - 1630.
About the Job Role:
This role requires specialist disability support to young people participating on the Skills for Life and Work, Training for Success, and/or Apprenticeships NI Programme.
Staff will also undertake administrative duties to ensure accurate records of support are completed and returned timeously.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Organise work placements and support participants in the work placement process.
* Familiarity with industries such as Administration, Bricklaying, Catering, Childcare, Hairdressing, IT, Joinery, Play Work, and Retail.
* Prepare participants for interviews/introductory meetings with potential new employers and accompany them to these.
* Prepare participants for their first day on placement to ensure they know what is expected of them and what they can do to make the right start.
* Provide mentoring support to participants as and when required.
* Organise and attend placement visits to monitor the progress of participants and deal effectively with any issues/concerns that arise.
* Assist the DSS Co-ordinator with monitoring and evidencing progress against Performance Targets set.
* Maintain accurate and timely records supporting effective ongoing monitoring and review of own support provided.
General Duties:

Person Specification:
Job Title: Disability Support - Employability Support Officer
Skill and Competencies:
* Knowledge of directly supporting people with disabilities within an employment, education, or employment & training setting.
* The ability to work with a wide cross-section of participants with varying levels of support needs.
* Highly competent in using ICT with excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
* Educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, including Maths and English.
Candidates should have experience in the work areas they are tasked with finding placements in, demonstrating an understanding of the challenges and requirements of the position.
Candidates must demonstrate ability to perform administrative tasks to a high standard under minimal supervision, excellent communication skills, and extensive knowledge of the industries they are placing trainees in.
