Senior Underwriter Job Description
The Global Specialised Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their team in Dublin. This role involves working on unique and bespoke lines of business, providing the opportunity to gain experience on a global scale.
The ideal candidate will have experience underwriting specialized lines of business and prior experience in the London Market is highly desirable. The company offers opportunities for fast career progression and constantly evolving product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the pre-underwriting process by reviewing historical performance, policy wordings, and pricing adequacy according to predefined underwriting rules and guidelines.
* Communicate with brokers throughout the underwriting cycle and policy period to ensure all necessary documents are received and manage any credit control issues.
* Participate in the underwriting process, including daily calls, evaluating submissions, analysing exposures, determining coverage, and contract language.
* Collaborate with actuarial teams and utilize risk modelling and pricing tools.
* Attend and travel to business meetings as required.
* Build relationships with brokers and assist in preparing and issuing quotes, binders, and policies accurately and promptly.
* Expand the existing business portfolio by developing relationships with current and prospective clients.
* Stay updated on market developments and maintain knowledge of the wider insurance market and global economy.
* Ensure data entry accuracy and completeness.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, with progress towards ACII or other relevant commercial insurance industry designations.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry in either a broking or underwriting role.
* Previous experience in the London Insurance Market is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of commercial insurance and regulatory requirements.
* Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively.
* A team player with the flexibility to meet business needs as required.
* Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with diverse groups.
* Capable of self-leadership and working independently within a team environment.
