The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is hiring a DRI Systems Administrator to support the DRI technical team based in Trinity College Dublin (TCD). This is a three-year fixed-term contract. This appointment will be made on the Administrative 3 Salary Scale (€40,053 - €50,692 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
DRI is a CoreTrustSeal-certified Trustworthy Digital Repository for Ireland’s cultural and social data. It consists of a consortium with staff in three partner institutions in Ireland: Trinity College Dublin, the Royal Irish Academy, and Maynooth University. The new role will be based at Trinity College Dublin.
The purpose of this role is to support the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) technical team in delivering Repository services and to administer the Repository infrastructure managing day-to-day system administration tasks such as monitoring, system upgrades, backups, website administration, and security audits.
The role holder will work as part of a small team of Linux oriented software engineers in the DRI group of the Research IT unit in Trinity College IT Services. They will also work closely with other DRI team members in Trinity College Dublin, the Royal Irish Academy, and Maynooth University to identify areas where the Repository functionality can be expanded to better support the aims of DRI as a whole.
Main Responsibilities
Systems
1. Develop and maintain automated deployment scripts
2. Operating system and website security updates
3. Maintenance of backup infrastructure, including testing of backups
4. Investigate and resolve technical issues with the Repository infrastructure
5. Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
6. Contribute to bug fixing, documentation, software maintenance and other development activities as directed by the DRI Technical team
Organisation
1. Participate in DRI staff and project meetings, DRI cross-functional Task Forces, and other DRI activities as required
2. Occasional travel to meetings and conferences in Ireland and Europe or online participation as required
3. Assisting in project management activities such as project planning, reporting and metrics
General
1. Deputise for colleagues as required and attend department meetings and events
2. Any other duties that arise from time to time as directed by the manager or nominee
