Role Overview:
The Field Service Engineer will play a critical role in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading high-precision automation equipment at customer sites. This individual will act as a technical expert supporting customers and ensuring excellent service delivery. The role requires a hands-on approach, problem-solving skills, and a strong customer focus.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install, commission, and troubleshoot complex automation and precision mechanical systems at customer sites.
2. Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams on equipment operation and maintenance.
3. Conduct diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades on installed equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
4. Work closely with engineering and production teams to validate and test new equipment before deployment.
5. Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs, advising customers on best practices.
6. Develop and refine service documentation, including reports, manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
7. Collaborate with sales and service teams to identify new opportunities for maintenance contracts and service upgrades.
8. Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards during all service activities.
9. Participate in on-call support rotations to address urgent customer needs.
10. Travel across Ireland and abroad to support customer installations and service operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Level 7 qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or a related field) preferred.
2. 5+ years of experience in field service, maintenance, or equipment support within a regulated industry.
3. Strong expertise in mechanical, electrical, motion control, and automation systems.
4. Experience with PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and troubleshooting industrial machines is preferred.
5. Ability to read, interpret, and create technical documentation and schematics.
6. Customer-focused mindset with problem-solving and analytical skills.
7. Willingness to travel frequently to support customers.
8. Full driving license required.
