Role Overview
Our client is enjoying tremendous success in the development of its large projects business, primarily in the Data Centre Cooling business, with large-scale projects being secured across Europe and beyond, involving the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of high-value, technically advanced cooling systems. With production taking place in multiple cutting-edge factories, alongside the occasional use of third-party manufacturers, there is a growing requirement for professional coordination and operational control.

Key Responsibilities
The role of Strategic Projects Operations Director is a new position, designed to provide high-quality, professional coordination, and control of all aspects of the “Order to Revenue (OTR)” process. With responsibility for leading our major projects business primarily in data centre operations for a number of key clients across Europe, this pivotal role encompasses the management of complex projects, including client relations, overseeing factory outputs, navigating site relationships, and ensuring the successful installation, commissioning, and handover of projects on time and in line with budget.
As The Strategic Projects Operations Director, You Will:
1. Lead major projects including primary data centre projects for key clients through the entire project cycle, ensuring alignment with expectations, budget, and timelines.
2. Maintain close communication with sites and project managers to promptly address challenges.
3. Act as the primary client contact, ensuring needs are met, managing expectations, and fostering long-term relationships. Address client concerns promptly to ensure the best levels of customer satisfaction.
4. Partner closely with factories for timely production and delivery of data centre components, while managing quality control to meet project standards.
5. Proactively manage site dynamics adeptly, fostering positive interactions among teams and stakeholders.
6. Resolve conflicts and promote excellence in project execution.
7. Effectively motivate site teams, providing leadership and support for skill enhancement and cohesive teamwork, ensuring project success.
Candidate Profile
1. A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or relevant field; master’s degree desirable.
2. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience supporting large projects including data centre operations, with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role.
3. Hands-on project management experience in the construction industry (ideally including experience of Data Centre Construction).
4. In-depth knowledge of data centre infrastructure, technologies, and project management principles.
5. An appreciation of HVAC design principles, including refrigeration, fan selections, noise control, etc.
6. Expert-level understanding of the established routines for equipment testing and commissioning, working with in-house and external commissioning engineers and design consultants.
7. First-class communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with real commercial nous.
8. Must be open to regular travel across Europe as required.
Personal Qualities

Additionally, having both financial acumen with experience in managing P&L statements and a proven track record of managing client relationships and navigating complex site politics is essential.
