Our Power & Low Carbon Solutions practice are looking for an experienced Irish Power Market Advisor to join the team.
What you will be doing
1. You will be working at the forefront of the energy sector, leading teams of power market and commercial advisors with deep industry knowledge where you will be able to deploy and then broaden your skill set and sector expertise.
2. You will join a Senior Management Team respected as Thought Leaders within the industry: we help our clients shape, define and implement change in energy markets. Our power market advisory team gives our clients an unparalleled combination of energy market expertise and commercial insight.
3. We advise organisations at the heart of this transformation, providing economic, commercial and strategic consulting to energy companies, financial institutions, governments and regulators.
4. Examples of your work include providing industry-leading projections for power markets and assets, designing markets, regulation and policy, providing commercial due diligence on assets and companies for mergers and acquisitions, optimising portfolios from fuel contracting to generation dispatch, developing hedging strategies for vertically integrated energy companies, and advising on the costs and benefits of different future energy policy options.
The projects you will be working on can cover a broad range of topics relevant to the energy sector in Ireland, Northern ireland, and beyond. Below are some examples of some notable projects we have been working on in the past 18 months:
5. Working with tech majors on energy sourcing and scope 2 decarbonisation (including our recent report .
6. Market and commercial due diligence supporting equity and debt processes for multiple SEM assets and business (including vertically-integrated utilities and major renewables developers)
7. Exploring potential developments in interconnector trading policy between SEM and GB
8. Showing the impact of wind on the Irish Consumer (Baringa Wind Savings WEI)
9. Advising developers as they prepare bids for the RESS and O-RESS auctions
10. Developing our industry-leading market reports, battery reports, and dispatch-down reports for SEM

We are looking for a candidate with experience in the Single Electricity Market (SEM) to join our industry leading power market advisory team in Dublin. You will be well versed in the economic fundamentals of wholesale electricity markets, and passionate about addressing the challenges of the rapidly changing energy sector. Ideally, you will have experience in modelling and appraising different forms of power generation in the All-Island market. The ideal candidates will have experience in some of the following:
11. Deep understanding of wholesale power markets, power market analysis, regulation and market design, ideally gained in the Irish power market.
12. Good knowledge of analytical techniques applied to wholesale electricity market fundamentals, including market modelling.
13. Experience in power market commercial structures, assessing routes to market and designing business models in energy markets.
14. The ability to define and lead client projects end-to-end, from origination, scoping / proposals, contract agreement, delivery and team / project management – directing a team of consultants and experts in client-facing environments.
15. Building and maintaining presence in the market, through thought leadership, contribution to industry forums and your personal network.
16. Excellent communication and presentation skills and a track record of effective team working and management.
