Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for: National Land & Social Enterprise Coordinator The purpose of this role is to execute Business Services processes and achieve quality and efficiency level required for the specific business services and to ensure application of overall framework that allows effective governance, oversight and administration of all land based activity and enterprises including social enterprises in Camphill Communities of Ireland.
You will oversee and adhere to defined strategy and, processes, staffing requirements for all related services, as well as quality and productivity targets for each community.
Oversight for the annual regional planning, organisation, supervision, and administration of land-based activities and enterprises / social enterprises. Ensure quarterly reviews against annual plans for each land-based activity per community and associated social enterprises.
Farm managers are employed to manage and carry out duties associated with the day-to-day and long-term management of community farms and gardens.
It is their responsibility to ensure that the farm and / or garden runs efficiently and achieve within agreed budgets and that it provides socially and vocationally valid roles, programmes and activities for Community Members with Support Needs (CMSNs) and day attendees.
They may directly act or engage as programme facilitators in this role also supported by programme assistants, residential staff and short term volunteers STVs Their day-to-day activities will depend on the type of farm being managed: Livestock (animals) Arable (crops) Mixed (animals and crops).
Horticulture and garden activities Forestry, recreational and amenity Food processing supply of foods to homes / sales of product to external customers Development and support to other social enterprise activities related to farming / horticulture/ food processing / traditional crafts/ plant sales / coffee shop and new initiatives arsing from interest of CMSNs and their local community Support to residential and day service regional operations in developing new lines of interest in training, enterprise, social and recreational, and socially valued roles for CMSNs Camphill Communities of Ireland operates a residential and day service in 15 centres, in which approx.
250 residents and day-attendees live and take part in day activities, delivered by a workforce of approx.
500 persons comprised of employees and voluntary co-workers.
1 Duties & Responsibilities The principal duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: To manage and lead inclusive programmes, training and social role opportunities for participants based on or aiming towards organic gardening and farming through the tasks set out below, by supporting and working with people with support needs, volunteers employees, and wider community partners.
To Provide enable and support meaningful work, training and personal development opportunities for people according to their ability, personal choice and vocational interests.
Contribute, report to and engage with the local management team as in terms of providing effective management oversight and safeguarding of people and operational management of the farm and garden activities.
To develop proposals for management that will support new opportunities and initiatives with potential to add value to the experience of CMSN, day attendees, trainees. Such to include approaches to best practice around the principles of social inclusion for persons with a disability, social enterprise, social farming, employment and social role opportunities for participants /day attendees/ trainees.
Assurance of Compliances in all farm operations including with DAFM grant schemes and herd owner / herd keeper compliances, organic schemes, Assurance of farm / garden activities from a risk management perspective for CMSN's and day attendees and staff / visitors Assurance of farm, garden grounds H&S practices in respect of our needs and population (e.g., stock handling and moving / access by CMSN's) Assurance on safety of food produce and support systems such as water usage in compliance with our own needs and relevant H&S / Environmental and food safety legislation and standards. Contribute to the PCP review process as it relates to people supported in land and social enterprise activities - in collaboration with person /Circle of Support / PIC and other relevant persons.
Work with Land and Enterprises & Social Enterprise Lead to develop an overall farm and garden strategic plan from which emerge the annual farm and garden plans per community.
Work with SMT on best strategy for Camphill in response to revised EU Post 2020 Common Agriculture Policy (as updated by DAFM 16/06/2021 - Nine Objectives) Strategic planning and development of farms and gardens nationally / innovation / access / local initiatives / national programmes (IOFGA, Bord Bia, National Pollinator Programme, GLAS, TAMS, New Schemes etc.
), supported self-employment options (DoJ Comprehensive Employment Strategy), Co-operative models.
Develop with local land lead Annual farm and garden plans and overview of delivery against same / reporting on variances against plans.
Expansion of quality of offer to CMSN's and day attendees in consultation with Person in Charge (PIC)/ Regional managers Manage requirements on specific grant funded projects such as Leader Capital projects (e.g., Grangemockler) Contribute to New initiatives such as social enterprises, CSA, Social Farming potentials, Supported self-employment options.
Work with PIC / Service manager and Regional Managers in planning for delivery of outcomes for CMSN's / day attendees and farm production (Envisaged local staff will work and report under PIC for day-to-day operations) Lead on the core values of land and 'ownership' within community through proven initiatives such as Land Meetings with CMSN's and day attendees.
Support CMSNs and their support staff and PIC in developing significant social and community roles / membership of wider farming and social enterprise fora such as Macra na Feirime, local country market groups, Teagasc farm walks, Organic farm open days, Work in partnership with other training bodies such as ETBs, Teagasc, NOTs, and others to develop and deliver training / education including certified programs to CMSNs/ day attendees.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of open days/ family days, and Camphill festivals and festivities Undertake travel and support to CMSNs individually / as part of a group in social and professional engagements associated with their vocational interests in land and enterprises - including trips away / overnights.
Clearly outline how CCoI's model works in planning with and delivering support to CMSN's, and where Camphill's model fits and adds value and choice for our CMSN's.
Identify a lead in each community to demonstrate and validate how it is a progressive enabler for our people.
Support elements of 'shared living', community social roles, social enterprise, active engagement 'ownership contribution of CMSNs, volunteers, green space and land use, connections between our CMSNs and wider community.
Promoting staff understanding and how they support 'shared living' which remains a valued asset such as via the community 'Land Group'.
Participate in community ownership engagements such as 'morning gatherings' or similar community fora, contribute to publications / communications updates / newsletters etc.

Protect the environment and maintaining biodiversity.
Keep financial records up to date.
Apply for funding - as appropriate.
Explore options to supplement farm income with other activities, which might include: o providing respite lets o field sports and off-roading o wind power generation o specialty herds, such as llamas and alpacas o farm shops selling the farm's own and other locally sourced produce.
o creating fishing lakes o processing own products, e.g., vegetables or cold pressed oils.
Oversees the maintenance and repair of equipment, vehicles, and facilities and performs livestock and crop production activities, which may include coordinating agreements as appropriate with Finance, PIC's and CMSN's Participate in the planning, preparation, and execution of all farm, land and enterprise activities.
Works in coordinating and preparing the farmland and buildings for rentals and other activities.
Assists with research and educational activities by following verbal and written protocols and communicating effectively with government bodies/government grant schemes, enterprise partnerships, and colleges and the public.
Oversees CCoI training and supervising of students, volunteers, employees working with livestock and performing other farm duties.
Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required.
Work with the National Land & Social Enterprise lead and CCoI Properties & Maintenance division in planning, undertaking and managing grounds maintenance of CCoI grounds and premises in your region including oversight of contracted grounds maintenance and other such engaged contractors, and works undertaken in house.
Support and supervise scheme members such as Community Employment, Rural Support, volunteer teams contributing to land and social enterprise activities.
Ensure all engaged agricultural contractors are set up as vendors, carry correct insurances and work to task specific and site-specific risk assessed work plans while on site including safety for pedestrians, and traffic management plans.
Supervision of a work group including hiring, training, planning, and directing the work of permanent employees.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Level 7 on the QQI Framework - Bachelors Degree level in Agriculture, Rural Development or an Agri Food/Agri Business or Business and Community Development related qualification is required. A qualification of Level 5 Major Award on QQI Framework - in Health Care or Social Care is a distinct advantage.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Management/Leadership role within a social care, rural development/community development role A significant amount of relevant experience in both animal and horticultural based enterprises.
Experience of offering work experience and training schemes for students and new graduates include: Farm Care - an arable crop, fruit farming and land management business. Management Development Services - offering a scheme for graduates wishing to enter the fresh produce and arable industry. A commitment to animal welfare Must have strong operational background and negotiation skills KPI management and delivering to targets Have a thorough understanding of the administration duties, budgeting, financial control systems and performance management systems Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and risk assessment and management Understanding of person-centredness and demonstrable experience in working in a person-centred way with individuals Ability to lead, direct, co-ordinate and delegate the work of the team, while providing consistent and quality support Proficient IT skills relevant to the role, to include Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive & Teams.
